Introduction

This guide will walk you through the steps to fix the extremely fast scrolling bug that is present in Sim City 3000 Unlimited.

Download the latest cnc-ddraw

cnc-ddraw is a tool that can fix issues with older games.
Download it here:
https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw/releases

Once downloaded extract the files to a new folder

Edit ddraw.ini to reduce the tick rate of the game

Open the extracted cnc-ddraw files
Open ddraw.ini
Search for maxgameticks
You should find a line of text that looks like this maxgameticks=0
Change the 0 to 60
Save the file

Copy cnc-ddraw to the Sim City folder

Copy the extracted files to the Apps folder in your Sim City 3000 installation folder.

To do this follow the steps below:

Find Sim City 3000 Unlimited in your library
Right click it and select properties
Select Installed files from the left hand list
Click the Browse button
Your Sim City 3000 installation folder will open
Open the Apps folder
Copy the files within the extracted cnc-ddraw folder to that folder

Linux only - Set launch options

Linux Only

If running Linux, you will have to tell proton to use the correct dll. To do this you will need to set the Sim City 3000 launch option to WINEDLLOVERRIDES=ddraw=n,b %command%

To do this follow the steps below:

Right click Sim City 3000 Ultimate in your library and select properties
Copy and paste WINEDLLOVERRIDES=ddraw=n,b %command% into the launch options at the bottom of the dialog box

Installed the new .exe for high resolution first, then did EXACTLY as this guide says. but it didn't work, scrolling ius still super fast! :(

That's how I do it:

* Replace the game's executable (located on ...steamapps/common/SimCity 3000 Unlimited/Apps/) with the GOG's modified executable that supports higher resolutions. You can download it here:

* Then follow this guide's instructions for the scrolling fix.

Anyone knows how to make this compatible with the resolution fix?

I do not have a "cnc dddraw.ini" in my dddraw files. There are other dddraw files; Any ideas. The mouse thing seems to be a common problem

Although this works to slow the cursor/scroll speed it conflicts with the gog resolution update fix.
Can only choose between original game resolutions or native 4K with tiny ai
