The Background Info
Beyond Gravity is a fun, simplistic game you can pick up on Steam (PC + MAC Compatible) for around $1.99. The reason it's so cheap? It's a port from mobile. Whilst it is an entertaining game a tutorial is missing. Here are some tips to help you through this addicting game.
The Basics
Story/Lore:
You play as a jumpy astronaut: Jeff. Jeff, the poor chap, crashed his rocket on a floaty moon rock and now you need to leapfrog him from planet to planet collecting Nuts and Bolts.

How to Play:
Jeff can be controlled with a simple tap of the spacebar or a click of the left mouse button. If you hold down your jump key for too long, Jeff's jump cancels. You may jump twice (double jump) without any upgrades.
Note: Holding down the spacebar or mouse will not change how fast or far Jeff jumps.
Note 2: Pressing the jump key will stop the planet he stands on from revolving
Note 3: It does not matter how many times you go aroun and around on a planet. There is no time limit and therefore is no penalty.

Objectives:
Primary Objective: Travel the furthest
Secondary Objective: Collect Common Nuts, Cogs and Golden Nuts (Metal)
Third-ary Objective: Collect all Metal in between two planets to build up Chains

Common Nuts, Cogs and Golden Nuts:
Common Nuts are woth 1 Metal. They look like a plain silver screw.
Cogs are worth 2 Metal. They look like plain silver wheels with squares sticking out of it.
Golden Nuts are worth 10 Metal. They look like shiny golden screws.
Note: Your Chain amount increases your Multiplier which makes the Metal prices increase (by the addition of their original value).
Note 2: The location of the planets, assortment of metal and path of metal is completely randomised.
Photos below: Left = If you're lucky, you may get an entire row of Golden Nuts. Since I got them all, thats 120 metal for me!
Right = Going from left to right, the pieces of metal in that photo are Cog, Golden Nut, Common Nut, Cog, Common Nut
Bottom = I GOT IT! A screenshot of the three different pieces of metal, and nothing but the three pieces of metal

Chains
If you get every single piece of assorted metal between two plantes, you get a chain value of the total amount of metal you collected between those plantes. Sorry for that. I explained that so badly Jeff started crying. Maybe I can cheer up Jeff if I give you a much clearer example of what I mean: If there is 17 metal pieces in between planets three and four, and Jeff jumps from the third planet to the forth planet and manages to pick up every single piece of metal in that jump, then he would get a chain value of 17! Chains are stackable, so if he did it again, but only picked up 6 pieces of metal, he would get a chain value of 23.

Enemies
Fire balls are hot. It hurts Jeff when he touches them. Fire balls kill Jeff. Please don't let Jeff touch Fire balls. If Jeff narrowly escapes from touching a fireball, he will get a near miss. These do nothing except for going towards challenges (see next chapter) and telling you how lucky Jeff is to not be dead.

No planets means no Gravity. No Gravity means no Jeff. Jeff likes Gravity almost as much as Jeff likes himself. Please don't let Jeff fall out of the universe.

Pausing the game
So, say you need a break, but you don't want to lose that epic chain or your massive distance. Or you want to view those challenges and check up on your progress (see next chapter). Well, there is a way! After 65 minutes (I really have no excuse as to why I am so stupid) I managed to spot the sneaky pause button (top right hand corner, two white lines). Here it contains the options to Quit to Main Menu, Restart or Resume and displays your current challenge status.
(The pause button are the white lines in the top right corner of the right photo above)

Quiting the game
No, this isn't a joke. There is no way to quit this game apart from closing it yourself. To do this:
To fix this, you can either play BG in a windowed screen or:
ON PC: alt+tab out of the game, go to your taskbar down the bottom, right click on the app icon and press close window. Sorry if you've got Windows 8, I have no idea how to do it on that OS.
ON MAC: You can either
1) cmd+Q the game, or
2) Swipe across, go to your dock down the bottom (or on the side if you're mentally delusional), right click on the app and chose 'Quit App'. Sorry if you've got OSX Yosemite, I have no idea how to do it on that OS.
Note: WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT alt+f4 THE GAME. This will delete your progress for that playtime.

They added an exit button! All hail Qwiboo (and Jeff)!
Challenges and Achievements
There are 40 achievements in BG. I'm not going to write out an obtaining guide as there is already a kick-ass (kick-butt, sorry Steam censorship) one here. Thanks Jepp! *gives Jepp a secret-super-amaxing-guide-creator-high-five* I will tell you however, like other mobile games, BG Has a challenge system. Remeber the mobile game Jetpack Joyride? Well, like Halfbrick's (the guys who made Jetpack Joyride) challenge system, only 3 challenges can be done at a time. Those 3 Challenges may be 'Die 3 times', 'Play 10 games' and 'Die between 100-120m'. Once you complete those challenges, three more will be unlocked. Like said above, there are 40 achievements.
Note: Anything you do towards challenges that have not been unlocked (the challenges unlocked are your current three, to see your current challenges, start the game and press pause) will not count. Yep, that means you can only get three achievements at a time, per run.
Spaceship (Store)
When you save up enough metal, you can buy certain things from the store. These things can range from power-ups to hats. Below is a list of the spaceship items. Since there is no explanation as to why you get power-ups and hats from a crashed spaceship, I guess I'll have to make one.
Jeff's spaceship included a fabricator on board before it crashed. Now the ship is damaged, the fabricator is partially broken. How so? It needs much more scrap metal than it normally would. So, to make it easier to jump from planet to planet, Jeff must collect the space junk and sacrifice it to the fabricator in returns for magnets, and triple jumps, and outfits, oh my!

Thanks for reading this guide, please comment what it needs, what it's missing or where I screwed up (because I know I must have, somewhere).
Also, thanks to Qwiboo for making the game (in particular Vladimir Roth, Adam Foreman and Daniel Murdoch), Jepp for the Achievement guide, and Jeff for being a charming fellow. We all love you, Jeff.

- Good luck in your future space-jumping,
Critical Timing.
(Updates [(DD/MM/YYYY)])
27/10/2014
  • An exit button was added, so all information regarding the lack thereof was deleted. [Thanks ozone89]
  • Greg McSpaceman's official name was revealed via the trading cards. He is called... Jeff. Yep, just simply plain old Jeff. I guess he's mononymous, like Madonna or Chell. [Thanks Celtic Batman]
  • Added a trading card subsection.
