the Homewrecker: is it only good on defense?
By 『M.P. Firebrand』
so in this guide im gonna discuss the roles the homewrecker can have, and how effective it can be with alternative uses, such as offense and support during other game modes that arent a/d, CTF, or payload.

Homewrecker stats
The Homewrecker
+100% damage against buildings
Damage Removes Sappers
-25% damage against players

seems kinda meh right? it seems REALLY geared towards defense and SPECIFICALLY designed to counter spy right? hahaha.. WRONG! you see that stat that says "+100% damage against buildings"? thats gonna be important. but for now lets break this down before getting into the meat of the guide. the +100% damage against buildings means we can deal WAY more damage to buildings, but most think its only to ♥♥♥♥ over spy bc of the 2nd blue stat, "damage removes sappers", which is a fair judgement. the homewrecker deals juuuust over enough damage to one-shot sappers so all that spies put into putting up a sapper is wasted. the main thing that keeps this from being a great damage dealer is "-40% damage against players", so its ♥♥♥♥ at dealing damage. it can still work, just not as well as most other melees.

heres some more info for specifics (ripped from TF2 wiki)

Main stereotype and strategy: accurate or naw?
the main strategy fir this weapon is if you're on defense its gonna be only good for breaking sappers and nothing else. its there to be a safety net so if you kill a spy who sapped a building you can quickly get rid oif it if an engineer has gone kaput and is dead because of spam or a backstab, or just isnt there to deal with it.

its a great tool to help teams ♥♥♥♥ spies over more. its not fun but thats the sad reality. spy just isnt that good anyway. the strategy is quite boring and slow. good for friendlies and ppl who want to relax and learn the game but thats about it. I frequently see newer players or comp pros use this defensively to lock down objectives, and its boring, not fun. it works but its meh, at least to me. I almost NEVER see this on offense. i used to think it was stupid idea but it has its uses.
alternate strategies: can they work??
yes. in short: yes.

But, there are situations where it simply doesnt. like on KOTH, its not too good as you dont see nests as much. but it does have something real nice about it.

remember that stat from earlier?
+100% damage against buildings
yeah that one. this also applies to not just spy sappers but ALSO engineer buildings! with this damage bonus it doesnt JUST one-shot sappers, it one shots Mini Sentries (yeah those pesky things), that gunslinger engineers can pop down. 2 swings and 2 mini kills, they have no metal, so they can be easier to dispatch, especially if they run to go grab ammo.

it also two-shots most other engineer buildings. including lvl 1-2 sentries, dispensers, and teleporters.so if a pesky gunslinger engineer or defensive engineer tries nesting in your backline, hit en when they're putting down buildings or leaving around unattended teleporters to REALLY piss em off. you can use this hammer to not just annoy spies but also CLOBBER engineers, a pyro's best pal and worst enemy.

just 2 swings from Engineer-B-Gone and your backline sparkles like new! no disgusting enemy teleporter exits! (SWING SWING!) dispensers? make them scrap pickups instead! (SWING SWING!) and just one swing from engineer-b-gone and you dont have to deal with ANY mini sentry! (SLAM!!)

Scouts will now kind of respect you because you take out their least favorite engineer buildings, heavies and medics will love you because you take out spy-sending teleporters, and snipers will hate you slightly less because you took out the dispenser the enemy sniper was using as a shield!

also fun fact: my strange homewrecker has a lot of buildings destroyed, i added the sappers destroyed part the same day, and ive used it for a while. sappers count as buildings, but if you look at it, the sappers destroyed counter is a fraction of the other counter (buildings destroyed). so take that as you will.
end
thank you for reading this fairly short guide, have a good day
I have some socials linked on my profile so check it out if you want. ok bye :)

Also, if you think only bots play the game, you’ve clearly not looked into the strong, still standing community. It’s a shame, people ignore this gem of a game just because it’s not new and shiny

I don’t care if TF3 comes out. I’m thinking of making an indie game version of tf2 but if valve makes a 3rd Team Fortress, I don’t think it’ll compete with tf2, and it probably will conflict with the nice wrapped up ending and lore of TF2’s comics

Dude I was so angry about you spreading negative comments in the OW2 forums, now I see this guides you make for a dead game that only bots play, I can't help but feeling sory for you. You are rowing against a waterfall.
I hope someday TF3 comes out so you can be happy again, I really do, I feel so sorry for you.
