Thief is an underrated series. It has a small fan base around the world. It is impossible to find completely accurate and up-to-date information about this game. I thought that the Thief series did not deserve this. I am trying to make the Thief series see the value it deserves by preparing installation and modding guides about the series. It is useful to read the guide from start to finish to have a better gaming experience and find answers to all your questions.

Before following the steps in this guide, it is recommended that you back up your game files just in case. It is very important to have the original game files on hand.

A Beginner's guide for Thief 2: The Metal Age should be followed.

Firstly, we will need two Thief 2 folders. From the first Thief 2 we will continue to play the main story and fan missions as usual. From the second Thief 2 we will play the main story and fan missions in multiplayer.

Let's have clean Thief 2 files. Let's install the unofficial patch T2Fix and mod if you want. Copy the contents of the Clean Thief 2 folder by opening another folder called thief_2mp. This folder will be Thief 2, where we play multiplayer. We can only install certain things in the thief_2mp folder. unofficial patch T2Fix and mods as we did in thief_2. Whatever we install, the person we will play multiplayer with should also install them.

After this process, let's move on to the next process.

Installation
In order to play the main story and fan missions in multiplayer, we need FMSel. For this, we need to create a shortcut to Thief2.exe. Let's create the shortcut somewhere and add the -fm code from its properties. If you want, you can skip this step and consider adding this code to the Steam shortcut. Since there is no chat window in the game, we need to add Thief2.exe to the Steam shortcut. After adding Thief2.exe to the Steam shortcut, we add -fm to the launch options in the Properties section. Of course, you can also talk out loud if you want.

Now we need Hamachi to play multiplayer.

Installation
We set up a Hamachi network. We invite the person or people we will play with to our Hamachi network. Then we enter the game. We select the Multiplayer section. Then we select the Host section. We set the server name if you want. We enter our name at the bottom. We say Next. Our room is now open. Then the person or people who will join the game need to join our room. The person or persons who will join your room should enter the Join section. Then they should join your network by typing the network IP in your Hamachi. After the person or persons join the room, you can start the section.

Since it does not show you what you need to know when you start the game, you need to learn these things before you start the game. Learning these things and applying them in the game will be a plus for you.

Things you need to know when starting the game.

• It is a pain to play fan missions where you are spawned without blackjack, lockpicks, keys or other objects, which you get later. Only one person can get them. So pay attention to this when choosing fan missions.

• When the 4th player joins the room, 1 or 2 people automatically kick.

• You can resurrect deceased players by going to them.

• It is recommended that you save the game frequently, both normally and without quick-saving, just in case.

• Do not use the ESC key when playing multiplayer. Otherwise, multiplayer players like you will also stop playing.

After this stage, you can now enjoy multiplayer.
