Players may be unfamiliar with the concept of a "counter attack".

This is an ability that gives a hero (or team) +1 Counter [marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com](with or without resists or block).

Play a counter attack ability/card in anticipation of enemies, to focus on a super-villain, or even just for crowd control. This makes counter attacks very effective in Vampyre and Turned Hydra missions.

Captain America's Dig In+[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com] (the upgraded vers.) gives him +1 Counter and Block[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com].

A solo counter attack.

Hunter's Fortify [marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com] gives them +1 Counter and Block, which is arguably less powerful than Resist, but nonetheless still a counter attack.

The upgraded vers. is not necessary (but is better by offering 2x Counter or two turns of counter attacks).

The upgraded vers. of Challenging Roar[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com] grants +1 Counter to Hulk.

Hulk's counter attacks will benefit from his extra Rage offence.

And this is particularly effective for Hulk, because he needs to be attacked to increase Rage[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com].

Captain Marvel's Bring It On+[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com] (the upgraded vers.) gives her 2x Resist [marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]when she is Binary.

Even though another solo counter attack, Cap. Marvel's counter attack will benefit from her overpowered Binary status.

Morbius' Cornered+[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com] (the upgraded vers.) is also a solo counter attack.

Morbius' counter attacks will bleed enemies when he has Bloodlust.

Elite vampyres will be marked when bled, so this is very useful on Vampyre and Turned Hydra missions.

Magik's legendary (or in particular her upgraded version) Darkchylde+[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com] is a Magik counter attack.

A solo counter attack, playing it will allow Magik to counter all enemies taking no damage at all even from super-villains, giving her allies a chance to regroup.

Giving 2x Resist and Counter to each of her allies, Stormshield+ (the upgraded vers.) is the top ranking counter attack in the game.

Take Charlie on a mission (using Hunter's legendary Summon Charlie[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]) and/or use Magik's Reinforcement [marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]to double up on the counter attack.

Stormshield is ranked #1 because it is the first ability/card that is a counter attack for the entire team (although not her!).
