BRDM-1 is a Soviet light armored reconnaissance vehicle used by many Warsaw Pact countries, including Poland. It was mainly used by the Citizens' Militia for patrol, reconnaissance, and support in maintaining public order. It had light armor, was armed with a machine gun or mortar, and powered by a gasoline engine, providing mobility on various types of terrain. It was also capable of fording shallow waters.
