Step 1: Prep
- Set victory condition to require one crown.
- Have only Statue of Zeus selected giving three crowns for having 18 power.

(The idea here is that the enemy cannot get 18 power because they have too many armies to afford it and they are too busy fighting each other to save up)

Step 2: Economy
- Buy gold income from mountain and plains.
- Claim all of your starting island but no surrounding sea.
- Collect the Crop Rotation opportunity, "gain 2 food per plains tile" and hold it for later.
- Collect the Stonecutting opportunity, "gain 3 money per hills" and hold it for later.

Step 3: Migration
- Work your way to the island east of you claiming as few ocean tiles as possible, make sure to micro manage your spending each turn so you only buy the exact food you need for your next tile, and save up if you can't afford it.
- Once you reach the island pop your Crop Rotation and Stonecutting opportunities to immediately build your city.

Step 4: Wait
- Collect and activate the Academy and Courthouse opportunities to minimise science and money wastage.
- Now sit still and save up 400 gold. The Trojans will briefly attack your city, so you may need to spend some science on city power, but once they claim the sea tiles between you and your starting island they won't attack you again.
- Whenever an opportunity pops up giving you money, use it. Eg. don't be threatened for x turns, or spend 50 gold now for 15 gold for the next 8 turns

Step 5: Profit!
- Collect the Ornamental Garden opportunity.
- Trade in your 400 gold for 600 science.
- Activate the Ornamental Garden.
- Win!

Step 6: Keep Trying
- This is the hardest civilisation in the game so don't be discouraged if you don't get it first try.
- If Ornamental Garden doesn't show up, make sure you haven't set Statue of Zeus to 4 crowns, as this prevents you from getting crown opportunity cards.
- If you can't make it to the east island before the Trojans make sure you only buy exact food for ocean tiles and withhold your money on turns when you can't afford one.
- Food is not necessary once you have built your city. If you have negative food income, it's population will decrease, but it cannot go below one. Your city will survive with zero or negative food.

@rpgarcher You can use this on other maps too. It works best if you build your city on the edge of the map. On maps with more civs you might need to change power win condition to tiles owned. I did a similar thing to win Canaanites on near east by sitting on the south edge in the mountains.

I've been working my way up the difficulty (most easy/medium starts accomplished on master), but I've been hitting a bit of a wall.

Is this basic strat (18 power goal and 1 crown) something that is generally effective on other maps, or do you generally need an isolated island to make it work?
