Thank you very much @Valorien , I never tried getting the red friendship border without having the three leaves first!
@★Lucid Dreamer★ To enable/disable 'free mode', you need to talk to the book before starting a run. There, you should select 'story mode'. Then, you need to defeat the Program Master under the right conditions. I'm pretty sure you don't need to unlock the first ending before. I have a friend who got the 'True Ending' without doing the 'Happiness within the Birdcage' ending.
Lucid Dreamer, the prompt only happens after you beat the Program Master, and only if you already have the first ending. Also maybe you were playing on Free Mode? I don't know if it appears there.
I'm fairly confident that the twins are not a prerequisite.
Things to note: I don't have the twins unlocked (i don't know if this is a pre-requisite)
