that DAMN Library - Crafting, Fixing and Recycling explained [B41]
By KI5
There have been many questions and misunderstandings about how things work in the damnlib and sure, you can go in the recipes and code and try to figure it out on your own, but that is not for everyone so let's take a quick look at how things work. I will eventually do the deep dive with exact numbers, but since i am still balancing those, let's keep it simple for now.

This guide is for the damnlib version v0.937b+

Introduction to the items
I have tried to keep the amount of new items minimal but also realistic so you can easily remember what you need to craft something but to also keep it interesting and challenging for people that enjoy vehicle mechanics.

Quick overview of what is available currently:

Rims: they come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large, small are usually used for most of vehicles, medium for some offroad variants and large usually for military stuff. You will need a crowbar to remove them from the tire rubber.

Tire rubbers: new, damaged (they come with a small condition penalty and can't be fully repaired) and destroyed (they have a huge condition penalty and are best used for making rubber strips), you will need a crowbar to remove them from the rims. They come in large and small sizes.

Tire rubber mounts: good way to store tire rubbers and save some space, they come in large and small sizes and are used by their respective size tire rubbers.

Glass panes: they come in small and large sizes, they are usually made by cutting vanilla vehicle glass, depending on the condition of the original glass panel, you may be able to get a large one out of it or only a small one if the glass was very damaged. You can also get them from house windows and mirrors but they are tricky and will break easy when trying to take them.

Handles: You get them by dismantling vehicle doors, there are classic and modern ones.

Hinges: You get them by dismantling vehicle doors, hoods and trunk lids. There are small and large ones.

Rubber strips: You get them by cutting down tire rubber, destroyed tires are the best choice usually.

Seat frames, Seat foam and Seat fabric: you get the by cutting up seats, seat frame size depends on the seat type.

Tire repair kit: unpacking it will give you special tools, strips and glue. Using them together with a tire will patch it up, you may need to do it a few times to get the condition up, strips and glue will drain when used, repair tools will stay.

Plastic repair kit: Special tool used for plastic part repair. Opening the kit will give you a welder gun and a pack of staples. using them together with a plastic part like a bumper, spoiler or similar plastic part will improve its condition. Note that welder gun uses batteries and they will drain over time and that staples are also used up.
Getting resources from vanilla parts and mods
Easy way to get crafting resources is by dismantling vanilla parts: Tires, Hoods, Trunk Lids, Windshields, Vehicle and House Windows, Mirrors, Vehicle Doors, Seats and Mufflers.

More parts will be added in the future, including recycling modded vehicle windows and much more, the goal is to be able to reuse whatever you can find to get your vehicles going, as long as it makes some sense.

Finding Vehicle Schematics
You will have to find Vehicle Schematics and read them to be able to unlock crafting recipes. There are 2 main reasons for this, first is to give the server admins option to control how hard it will be for a player to get into crafting and second is to be able to disable crafting for the hard core scenarios, in both cases by controlling the amount of loot.

There are currently 9 different schematics that unlock 9 groups of items, you can find them individually in the world or packed in a Schematics Box. I may add the 10th one that will cover specialized and unique parts, but the rest should not change anymore, these are the schematics you can find in the world now, : Window, Door, Hood, Trunk Lid, Seat, Rim, Muffler, Bumper and Bodywork Schematics.
Crafting the vehicle parts
Here we are finally, you have some basic resources, you did some schematics reading and now it is time to use those skills you have been working on for months, time to finally get that car running again!

Neither you or me have time to list and explain all recipes but there are some patterns and i will just go over some basic recipes and common materials, so let's start!

For door crafting you will usually need a handle, a couple of small hinges and metal sheets.

Hood crafting will usually require large hinges and metal sheets.

Seat crafting will usually require small or large seat frame, seat fabric and seat foam.

Window crafting usually requires either a small glass pane or a large one, if the window is not openable it will usually also require some rubber strips, this will usually be case for front and rear windshields.

And finally the most requested item in years, the main reason this whole mod was developed, the tire! You will usually need a small tire and a small rim, in some rare cases you may require a medium rim and for military vehicles you will usually need a large rim and a large tire rubber.
Conclusion
That is it for now, this guide will be expanded and updated as time goes by and more items and recipes get added. Have fun!
