Foreword & Screenshots
For whatever absurd reason, changing the language from English to German for the game causes entities to appear much sharper.

In this guide, I'll show you how to:
  • Change the language
  • Install a modified localization file to have the now German text appear as English

What about other languages?
The full extent of this bug is not known either, so other languages may also result in this increased sharpness. If you already have a 2K or 4K monitor, this may not result in increased sharpness either. Feel free to experiment with various settings and display devices, and report your findings in the comments!

Benefits?
Thanks to this increased sharpness, you can now see certain normally "hidden" entities (like C switches placed under mines). Your recordings and screenshots will also look sharper.

Downsides?
Evil ninjas are slightly harder to see (especially depending on your palette).
The period in the timer bar will now show as a comma. This is due to European number formatting.[www.languageediting.com]

Changing the Language
In order to change the language for your game, go to your Library, right click on N++, click Properties. You should see the menu below.

Click on the Language dropdown and change it from English to German. Simple!
Adding the Modified Localization File
You can grab the file from one of the two links:
https://files.catbox.moe/uoh2dm.txt ; Right Click, Save Page As, name as "loc.txt".
https://github.com/blakeplusplus/ntesseracted/blob/main/loc.txt ; click Download Raw FIle

if neither of those links work, the file is also available somewhere in the N++ Discord.[discord.com]

All this file does is take the German translation of the game and turn it all back into English so we can play easily while still getting the benefits.

In order to add the file, you'll need to go to the game directory and replace "loc.txt".

Unless you purposefully moved the installation of the game when installing it, this will be where the Steam application is installed. On Windows, this is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common. In there, there should be a bunch of different folders containing the names of games you have installed. Find the N++ folder and open it, then open the NPP folder. It should look like below.

You can see I have the existing "loc.txt" file selected. Make sure N++ is not running. Drag and drop the "loc.txt" file you downloaded into this folder, clicking Yes when it asks you if you want to replace it. Launch the game, and the text should now be in English again!
