Soundless Challenge (Or for Deaf Gamers)
By Wyvernking
The Guide is for those who needs help playing the game without sounds or for those who seeks help in challenging themselves to try the Soundless aspects of it. I did the best I can to describe it based on my full game completion on GTFO and my experiences as a deaf gamer who never used sounds.

Tools of the Game
Without Further ado! Let’s get right into it.

1. Biotracker. This helps significantly in terms of where the monsters are for stealthing. If you know where the monsters are and what room you are in (In some cases, some rooms could complicate some things such as the big room in R6D1 level where there are multi-levels), you can clear out the room easily. However, it is useless in shadow rooms for stealthing as you cannot ping them NOR can you hear them listen/pulse.

2. Glowsticks. These tools are very helpful in some areas where darkness poses visibility issues. ESPECIALLY the darkrooms, where vision is extremely limited to the use of lights and in some cases… using the light can be your own downfall. Use them wisely to light your path to success. However, they are no longer useful if the area is lit enough for visual support.

3. Weapons: Honestly, the weapon choices are your own preferences since most of the weapons in this rundown are pretty good in their own ways.

4. Thermal: Thermal weapons are introduced into R7 for the first time and they will be one of the core weapons whether it is Main or Secondary Weapon. Thermal helps you see through the darkness and other major visibility hazards such as fog. It is the ONLY weapon variant that will allow you to stealth-kill Shadows.

5. Knowledge: This is the MAIN stable of the soundless run. Knowing the map and knowing what each room MIGHT contain is key deciding factor to whether you fail the level or you pass. This is also in combo with Visual in the next section as well.

6. Visual: Use your eyes… obviously, but seriously. The number of enemies that you may or may not have walked pass is astounding can it can pose a problem. Your own mind can often times, make you forget that there is a mob or not in some areas. My suggestion? ALWAYS look everywhere you go, double that or thrice until your mind and/or guts is satisfied.
Strategies
Strategy: In all soundless runs, your own past experiences with hearing the rooms and mobs will become your own handicap. A simple and basic but very modifiable framework of all soundless runs works well to help and assist everyone overcome that handicap.

Observe and Analyze (OaA): This is usually the very starting framework of how you look around and take a look at the rooms, even in the extraction zone areas. This is the main modifiable framework that will suit any situations and factors that may come into play depending on the level. Observe the locations and potential movement of mobile scouts in the area if any. It is vital that taking a look at the room itself will result in one of three measures below.

1. Stealth Protocol: Stealth within the room to silently take out the enemies without any wakes if possible and depending on what it is, it is also a measure you can use to stealthily skip a room if desired as a result of environmental conditions or mob amounts.

2. Offensive Protocol: Using weaponry to eliminate the room(s) which will result in said room waking up as a result. It can also a measure used in Time-sensitive levels where stealth is fully abandoned.

3. Defensive Protocol: Usually a measure against alarms but also against woken rooms or pulled rooms to eliminate all hostile threats.

In addition to these three measures, there are now additional measures called “Inclusions” which will determine how you would combat against specific threats or presences in the level. These Inclusions can also be added into the framework of the plans. Inclusions as listed below are:

1. Shadow Inclusion: Shadows are your biggest concern in all soundless runs. Without the means of Thermal, you are solely relying on visual which will give you low chance of success. Biotrackers are not exactly effective against shadows. They may tell you where they are however, that does not solve the issue of stealth-killing them where you need to avoid waking any of them. Thermal weapons are so far, the ONLY weapon which will allow you to stealth kill any of the shadows.

2. Charger Inclusion: Chargers are a variant of enemies that takes more firepower or certain stealth situation in order to kill them and avoid room wakes. Very aggressive and if woken, the Giant Charger can wipe entire team very easily. Carelessness and ignorance of surrounding is NOT WELCOME.

3. Respawn Inclusion: Respawn rooms may not be much of a threat BUT when it comes to clearing out the mobs, they will be back when you are at least 2 rooms away so keep that in mind.
Also, amongst all of these measures, you can also perform a Tiered Priority Protocol. TPP is a measure used to take out high-priority targets within an area, such as a scout among the masses of sleepers. Such planning requires teamwork and a well-communicated plan and timing to pull it off.
