What To Do After You've Hatched (Beginners Guide)

First off, WELCOME HERE! ^^

Just a heads up you may and probably WILL die often in the beginning! This is normal...the game can take a little time to learn and understand the information without feeling a wee bit overwhelmed. It is well worth it if you like survival games, raising a baby dragon to adulthood, making friends, and what not. So this is literally the most basic of what you do to survive after you hatch! The rest of what you want to do is up to you!

In Point Form

  • Press i for your stats and location information.
  • Press o to see social page and/or accept group invitations and/or egg invitations.

  • After hatching press and hold down f till colorful lines appear. This is called scenting.
  • Blue - water, Purple/Pink food (Creepy Looking Bugs). Follow scent lines to source.
  • Bugs need to be killed to be eaten. Careful some just run away while others fight back (those can hurt/kill a young dragon easily).
  • To eat or drink press and hold down e till finished or dragon stops action.
  • Repeat above over and over and over again until desired stage of Adult is reached! =) .

Explanation Version (Details)
After you have picked the server you want and you go through the initial steps of picking species, skin color, gender, and the game will pick a random spot for you to spawn. After you hatch if you want to know about your location or your Dragon's Stats press i and a page with the area information and stats will pop up. As a starter dragon theses stats won't be very good. Doesn't matter right right now to your survival (only later if you wish to create offspring and/or do battles with other dragons depending which server you are on).

***If you have requested help on chat and others are asking you for your cords or Coordinates at the top of the page in the location area there will be number with a N/S (North/South) by more numbers with a E/W (East/West) letters. This is what they want...those numbers and letters so they can find you as there is no actual map on this game, just cords. After awhile you learn where important things are or you can write them down.

Should someone send you a group invite (grp inv) to accept simply press o which will bring up a page of your social groups. Here you can see if you are part of a clan who is online, accept if someone has sent you a clan invite, or on the right hand side of the page if someone has sent you a group invite. If they are asking to carry you somewhere you need to be part of their chatting group to be able to do this. Simply press accept invite to join! OR start group, press 'Players' find the player you are looking for and click their name and the 'group invite' button' and await their acceptance.***

While you are waiting for help or if you are making a go on your own (both work) you need to keep your dragon hatchling alive! If you have already pressed the i button and have looked at your stats you should notice that there is a health, hunger, and thirst bars. If you are in PvE the health is not important and won't effect anything unless you are already about to die of thirst and/or hunger in which if it is low will just speed up your death; otherwise this bar does nothing and doesn't affect your dragon. ((When you are in PvP your health, thirst, and hunger are all up against you as well as the fact that other dragons can kill you... just a heads up!))

You ideally WANT to keep your dragon's HUNGER and THIRST below at least 50% if you can. Once it rises above that point you will get a little drumstick and/ or water droplet symbol(s) on the right hand side of your screen indicating that you are either hungry and/or thirsty. You need to deal with these before they get higher...should they reach 100% in either you WILL die. If you die you will be sent back to the Spawn page to start again. Once you have eaten and/or drank water these symbols will disappear once the levels have dropped back down under 50%. It is a wise idea to keep checking in on your stats to make sure hunger and thirst don't sneak up on you. You can carry a bug with you if you are worried about poorly resourced areas; after killing the bug instead of eating it right away right click with your mouse and press e at the same time. This will pick up the bug and you can carry it. Players often gift bugs to in-game mates, their friends, or when helping a nesting dragon who may or may not be able to leave the nest.

To find food and water simply press f and hold it till uou see little scent lines of color(s)
  • Blue - Water
  • Purple/Pink - Bugs (Food)
  • Green - Mushrooms
  • Yellow - Dragon Nests
  • Red - Dragon Blood or Dead Bug(s)

Follow the scent line to find the resource needed. If you cannot find what you were after you can scent as often as is needed. If you are in an areas where you aren't finding any scents run to another area and try there. ((Snap's Tip... Green = Mushrooms which mostly (there are a few exceptions to this) grow near by water (Blue)...Bugs (Purple/Pink) usually have spawners near by water sources)) Scenting helps you ear xp so to say , and you can find your progression status on the gold bar on the bottom of your screen on the i Information Page! To hover over it hit enter. Once at 100% you will begin the next stage of your dragon's life - Juvenile!

Please note I know everyone wants to fly! You can fly later on after a certain amount of time being a Juvenile; please be patient it take time to become one and to get there, but it will happen! The stages are Hatchling, Juvenile, Adult, Elder. Do you have what it takes to get to adult and then to Elder your dragon(s)?!

Other Helpful Things

  • Make sure you read rules/obey rules for which ever server you pick to play on.

  • Look through the game controls - there are a lot, but knowing them does help.
  • PvP versus PvE - If you are new to the game I highly recommend PvE so that you learn how everything works first before you start battling other players/dragons in the PvP servers (or game mode).

  • Be polite and understanding - most players are, but there is always the exception. If someone is being very rude, harassing, or rule breaking - alert an admin/mod to the situation. Try not to get pulled in. This is supposed to be a fun GAME! ;)

  • Abbrev.

    - PvP - Player versus Player

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have any questions there are Discord links around on various server pages OR ask in on chat! I personally have found on that most players are very welcoming and will help new players or just want to help in general here (myself included).
I also realise there is WAY more than just this, but I don't want to overwhelm anyone. After writing this out a few times, this version should at least give you what you need to survive on your own for a bit or until help finds you or you find another player(s). Again welcome here and good luck!^^
If you feel like I've forgotten something very important please leave me a comment of what and why.. I wrote this on very little sleep and I'm sure I probably missed a few things! LOL Thanks!<3^^
What you mean is right after hatching you run for your life because you are going to die constantly from people wanting to kill you.
