How I Play with a Controller (My "Steam Input" Settings)
By AlasseEarfalas
There may not be native controller support for Ranch of Rivershine, but you can still mostly play with a controller using Steam Input. The only part of the game I don't use a controller for is navigating menus, which I do with a mouse. These are the Steam Input settings I use to play the rest of the game using a controller. Feel free to tweak them to your liking!

How to Access Steam Input Settings (very quick guide)
1. From anywhere in-game (including the main menu), press Shift+Tab to open the Steam Overlay. Note: This WILL NOT pause the game!

2. At the bottom of the screen, click the Controller Settings icon.

3. Click View Layout.

4. Click on any of the controls to edit them.

You can do this as many times as you like to get the controls set up perfectly for you. :)
My Settings
EDIT 6/2/25: You can now find & use my custom layout by clicking the grey box under "Current Button Layout", then clicking on "COMMUNITY LAYOUTS", then clicking on "Alasse's Xbox 360 Controller Layout". Enjoy! :)

Feel free to tweak these however you want; these are just the settings I use. I've played for about 12 hours with these and so far I haven't had any issues. :)

Keybindings (in-game controls):
  • Left Thumbstick: WASD (character/horse movement)
  • Right Thumbstick: "Joystick Mouse" (camera movement, turning while riding)
  • Right Thumbstick Click: Left Alt (free camera mode; toggles on and off)
  • Start: Esc (menu)
  • Select: Q (quest)
  • D-Pad Up: M (map)
  • D-Pad Right: I (inventory)
  • D-Pad Down: C (calendar)
  • A Button: Space (jump)
  • X Button: E (action 1)
  • B Button: R (action 2)
  • Y Button: F (action 3)
  • Left & Right Triggers: Left Shift (sprint)
  • Right Bumper: Left Mouse Click (I mainly use this for advancing dialogue)

Enjoy playing ROR with a controller! :D

Great idea! It might take me a while, but I'll look into doing that. 🙂

Can you upload this profile so people can just find it when they boot up the game and check out community layouts?

Thank you so much! I can't wait to try this. This game is unplayable for me on a keyboard.
