The sand box workshop is very simple, just having maps for testing elements, etc.

I have a hypothesis that is the limitation, if players could make new materials, new mechanics, the workshop wouldn't be so empty

Yes, I think it's very easy to post sandbox items in the workshop compared to other games, just click a few buttons and quickly your map is in the Steam workshop

we managed to change that!!! We can try to get the sand box community back but we need a lot of people to do that
