CCM Navigation
The CCM (car control module) is an extremely useful and important element of the BI Kemmerode.

The display will enable when the driver's seat is occupied, but will only load the main menu or apps with the engine running.

The display will default to the main menu. From here, you are able to access the apps. To return to the home menu from an app, press the BI logo in the top-right corner of the screen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apps:
Map
Displays a simple colored map with a crosshair to indicate the car's position.
In the future, the Kemmerode may receive a CCM update with BINav, a much more advanced map system with highlighted roads, railways, and landmarks, as well as hazard icons to provide more information to the driver.

Weather
Displays the 24-hour clock as well as ambient rain and temperature conditions.
NOTE: for the most accurate temperature result, lower the climate control setting to disable the heater.

Radio
Displays a radio menu. Radio frequencies range from 0-999. The car is equipped with a receive-only audio-only small radio unit.
Additionally, the radio menu features a button to enable the car's transponder beacon in case of an emergency.

Camera
Displays a raw camera feed from the rear of the car. Useful for reversing into tight spaces.

Comfort
Displays the climate control and seat adjustment controls. Climate control temperatures range from -9C (16F) to 40C (104F). Seat adjustment can be used to obtain a preferred visual height over the dashboard for visibility and ease of operation.
NOTE: the actual temperature varies based on ambient temperature. The climate control settings are just the limits for the heater.
NOTE: seat adjustment is not available in GT Competition variants

Configuration
Displays the car's current drivemode and individual component settings. Press the "PRESET" button or the (default) "3" key to cycle preset drivemodes. Preset drivemodes will automatically set all components to the same drivemode setting.

Available preset drivemodes:
ECO: best used for conservative or gentle driving
SPORT: best all-round mode, best used for casual driving around the main islands
SPORT+: high-performance mode, best used for aggressive driving on relatively flat or controllable terrain
DRIFT: not a super useful mode tbh, best used never lmao
ESC OFF: the superior drift mode, disables all driving assists and lets you experience raw Kemmerode
RACE: GT Competition only, replaces ECO, SPORT, and SPORT+ for an even more aggressive track-focused mode

Additionally, press any of the component icons to enable CUSTOM mode. When custom mode is enabled, continue pressing component icons to cycle them individually to set up your own drivemode.

Dashboard

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dashboard is enabled while the driver's seat is occupied and presents the car's speed (in MPH or KPH), gear, engine RPS, engine temperature, fuel level, turn signals, headlight mode, and odometer.

By pressing on the speedometer, you can switch it between MPH and KPH. It is in MPH by default.

By pressing and holding the fuel or temperature gauges, you can expand them to show the precise amount of fuel and temperature respectively.

By pressing and holding the gear readout, you can present the odometer, measured in kilometers.
Advanced Driver Assists
The 2024 BI Kemmerode is equipped with various advanced systems to improve the driving experience:

Variable Steering Limiter
Steering angle is limited depending on the car's speed, helping increase stability and ease-of-operation.

CSA
CSA (counter-steer assist) uses a transversely-mounted linear speed sensor to measure the side-to-side velocity of the car. The CSA controller (located within the VDMS microprocessor) then applies countersteer (steering in the opposite direction) to the front wheels (assuming the driver is not actively steering) to help recover the car from a slide. Although they work together, this method is preferred over ESC in most cases because it does not significantly reduce the vehicle's speed. However, CSA is generally insufficient in recovering in the case of the car going completely sideways.

ABS
ABS (anti-lock braking system) helps keep the brakes from locking up under hard braking. This system uses the car's speed to variably apply the brakes, helping keep the vehicle stable without sacrificing much braking performance.

ESC
ESC (electronic stability control) takes the same side-to-side velocity as is used with CSA and applies the left and right side brakes accordingly to maintain control of the car. This method is generally tuned to be "looser" than CSA, but has a more dramatic effect in case of the car going completely sideways.

AEB
AEB (automatic emergency braking) uses a radar located in the front of the car to detect obstacles (other cars, players, animals, objects, or anything with a large enough radar signature) in the path of the car. If the AEB controller determines that a collision is imminent, it will automatically sound a warning, cut the throttle, and slam on the brakes to avoid it. After AEB has been triggered, press the "W" key or other accelerator button to reset it and continue driving.
NOTE: It is recommended to disable AEB through the "configuration" tab of the CCM if you are driving in a convoy or closely behind another car, as it increases the risk of an AEB "false alarm".

VDMS
VDMS (variable drive-mode selector) allows the driver to cycle through 5 preset drivemodes or format their own custom mode based on their driving needs. See the "CCM Navigation" tab for more information.

Cruise Control
Cruise control attempts to hold the car's speed when it is activated. Because of general space limitations, the cruise control is not adjustable after it is enabled, so cruise control functions as more of a speed hold function.
Safety & Repairability
The 2024 BI Kemmerode was built with safety and repairability in mind. Thus, multiple design decisions have been made to ensure safety and reliability:

Driver Assists
The various driver's assists as listed in the previous section help keep the car in control at all times. The steering limiter, ESC, and CSA prevent unwanted slides, ABS keeps the car stable under hard braking, and AEB makes sure that the car won't hit any large obstacles in its path.

Bumpers & the Hood
The front & rear bumpers are set on separate subgrids from the main body to help cushion impacts and preserve the rest of the car. Additionally, the hood is openable, meaning that it too is on a separate subgrid to further help cushion front-end collisions.

Doors
The doors are designed to be unable to collapse in on the interior of the car in the event of a side collision. The doors being openable also means that they are on separate subgrids from the main body, which further helps reduce overall side-on damage.

Seats
The driver's and front passenger's seats share a subgrid. This not only protects them from becoming damaged in a collision (particularly when bottoming-out) but also allows for a slight amount of adjustment to personalize the driving experience.

Logic
Microcontrollers are strategically arranged so that most of the fundamental driving controls are located as close to the center of the car as possible, meaning that they are unlikely to be damaged in the event of a collision. These critical components are also some of the easiest to repair, with most of the primary controls located around the backseat area.

Recovery
There are 2 rope anchors on the BI Kemmerode: One located in the left front corner, and the other on the right rear corner. If the car needs to be towed, ideally use the front anchor, as it is closer to the centerline of the car. Additionally, the emergency transponder can be enabled through the CCM radio app, which will emit a distress signal. Furthermore, the hood can be opened with the switch to the lower left of the driver to facilitate easy engine repairs.

Notes
-To be honest, the entire Kemmerode project was an excuse for me to see how much tech I could shove in a reasonably-sized car

-If you drive the S42i Nightline in Sport+ with the engine off and the transmission in manual mode, you can use the electronic launch assist to become a pseudo-EV

-The Kemmerode is modeled after the 2024 BMW M340i primarily

-RjH2 and I spent an entire evening trying to come up with names before settling on "Kemmerode"

-An earlier prototype model of the GT competition was able to do a 1:15 around Salsalago Circuit (actual racecar territory)

Thank you for reading the manual, hopefully this answered any questions you may have had about the BI Kemmerode. If not, leave a comment on either this guide or the individual workshop page of the vehicle in question.

Enjoy!
