Welcome!

Hail fellow wander through the lands of Etheria! This quick guide is designed to give you some general information concerning the Storm The Prison adventure. My understanding is that the adventures in Puzzle Quest 3 rotate from time to time and are exactly the same each time they are available. I decided it was worth capturing this information for the future. Hopefully it helps you.

Thanks to the friendly folks in Puzzle Quest 3 who have assisted with information to make the game more enjoyable overall, and who shared their expertise with everyone. In no particular order, HiggyThePQ3pedia, RevisHeraldofChees, Avalone, K-FOAG, and others. Sorry if I missed anyone; not my intent to diminish you assistance. They are a fountain of information, jokes and puns.

Let's get started....

UPDATE: The developers seem to have modified the behavior of the change hero mechanism in adventures, preventing you from being able to farm merchant items! Well, it was good while it lasted. Some players are attempting to have the change reversed, but don't hold your breath! The other information in the guide still holds true.
Storm The Prison

In this adventure, Mutiny Vance needs some assistance freeing her friends from prison. They are upstanding citizens, of course, each and every one, unjustly imprisoned by the man!

Adventures typically run for 3 days. Some adventures can be replayed and some cannot. This adventure cannot be replayed once completed, but you can replay parts of this adventure (and any adventure) repeatedly.

Each battle in any adventure cost energy to initiate. You are given free energy each day of the event, but you can obtain additional energy using gems, an in-game currency (no real-life money cost). Energy is sold in a group of five energy for a cost of 50 gems.

The details for Storm the Prison are below:

Merchant Offerings
Upon completing the first battle you have the option to visit the merchant to spend your hard-earned resources. The random follower's crystal may be tempting, as it cheaper than in the shop (where it normally cost 300 gems), but one of the Fae Gift choices is a free random crystal, and it only cost 130 gems (give or take) in energy costs. Refer to the Farming Fae Gift section for more information.

If you are farming crystals best to not spend the gems here, but simply replay the adventure as many times as you need and can afford. Choice is your!

Fae Gift Offerings
Storm The Prison also offers the optional opportunity to obtain a free Fae Gift. Offers are shown below. Why the Fae Gift is offered by Gong, who is clearly not Fae, is not exactly clear. Is it possible Gong has eaten Resh and was thus forced to take his place? We may never know.

Battles
It was not easy to capture a full map of the adventure that was understandable and uncluttered, so I decided to skip that for this guide. This adventure has a circular path, meaning you can travel clockwise or counterclockwise to complete the adventure.

There are 15 battles total to complete the adventure, with battle 15 being a dungeon, featuring 3 fights. The battles below are listed based on following the path in a counterclockwise order. Technically, you can bypass the 9th battle, but then you are also bypassing the free Fae Gift.

1) The Gatemaster (1 energy)
2) Fallen Draconus (1 energy)
3) Dragonguard Champion (2 energy)
4) The Keykeeper (2 energy)
5) Fallen Knight (1 energy)
6) Dragonguard Knight (2 energy)
7) The Keykeeper (2 energy)
8) Fallen Draconus (1 energy)
9) Raging Owlbear (1 energy)
10) Dragonguard Champion (2 energy)
11) The Keykeeper (2 energy)
12) Fallen Knight (1 energy)
13) Dragonguard Knight (2 energy)
14) The Keykeeper (2 energy)
15) Dungeon [see below] (2 energy)

Note: After the first battle be sure to collect the random Bloodfang gear reward. You can always salvage it for a little extra resources. You can also visit the Merchant at this juncture.

The Keykeeper apparently can take a beating as she appears four times in an effort to thwart your prison break. To complete this adventure, you will need to collect the four adventure currency rewards around the map, that will allow you to pass the toll gate. You can collect them as you go, or after you have completed the ring of battles.

Farming Fae Gifts
Storm The Prison is popular for crystal farming, since they are one of the valuable, but very limited resources required for upgrading followers, crafting relics with Eveline, etc. In this case the crystal is random, but it is guaranteed vs. hoping to get a crystal grinding dungeon battles. However, for folks who happen to have their followers at level 50 already, aether and spell dust are also a popular Fae Gift to farm.

To farm the Fae Gift you will need to endure 9 battles, costing a total of 13 energy. The battles are presented in the Battles section of this guide. If you are going to farm crystals, aether or spell dust, you may want to do so on the easy difficulty simply for speed to maximize the number of runs you can complete.

To replay the adventure multiple times, you will need at least a second hero of level 10 or greater. Once you have have reached the Fae Gift node and obtained your free goodie, then you should follow the direction under Change Hero Instructions section below to restart the adventure.
Changing Hero Instructions
As the section name implies you will need more than one hero in order to change to a different hero. Your hero must be at least level 10 to participate in the adventure.

This "trick" will work for any adventure is my understanding, and it is not a bug or cheating. It is designed to reduce the amount of grinding required to get necessary resources. It does not allow you to obtain the adventure reward (ie. when you complete the adventure) multiple times, which is what the ability to replay controls. If the game is too "grindy" then players quit and that means less money for the developers, so this will not get you in trouble

(Note: You can click on image below to view the original sized image, should you need.)

Once you have finished what ever you are trying to accomplish in an adventure (the Fae Gift in this case), then you will want to change heroes as shown below.

Next, you must click the Battle icon in the middle of the screen, not the "Continue" at the lower right.

Now click the "Battle" button . You must have enough energy or it will not work correctly.

Update, as further proof the developers allow this, it seems they have removed the need for this step. Now simply clicking on the Battle icon above prompts you to change heroes, so even easier now!

The game will inform you that the hero has changed and will prompt you to restart the adventure. Answer "Yes", which will return you to the map and allow you to restart.

If your newly selected hero is sufficiently powerful enough to handle the adventure, then simply start the adventure over until you need to change heroes again. If your newly selected hero is not powerful enough, then switch back to your main hero and repeat the steps above again to restart the adventure with your main hero. Enjoy the unlimited adventuring!
