Silver, what, how and where?
Silver is Enlisted's main ingame currency. You use it for everything. You buy guns, troops, equipment, tanks, planes and everything in-between.

This guide will hopefully stop you from exchanging Gold for Silver... (And I will stand by it until the day I feel Silver gain is Fixed).

But you never have enough. Its a scarce resource... Especially when starting out. So where do you go from here?

This guide will offer you some prudent thoughts and tips*

*(As a rule of thumb, be lenient in your interpretation. Adapt to your spesific needs and disegard segments that are not relevant to you).

Much will be obvious, as a large part of getting a good silver amount boils down to resisting FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and always wanting the newest and best thing. But despite that, it will be worth putting out there.

If you are already comfortably at BR3 or above, odds are you know all of this already.
Silver Saving for Dummies (and Misers)
1. Restraint, restraint, restraint!

You want to look cool, you want to be awesome. "Oh you just unlocked a new squad! Congratulations! Here take this -AWESOME- NEW bolt action rifle to go with it! YOU should totally buy a lot of them, just look at the improved stats, the open sight, the fact its so (Insert nation).
Oh, and while you're at it, Why don't you Do some rerolling of that awful, awful stats rifleman you've brought along out of pity?

If you can block out all these nudges... You will be a richer person for it. Stay cool, calculating and frugal.

2. Rolling Perfect Stat soldiers feels -Really- good, but don't do it!

- Be happy with what you get. At least when starting out. The most important thing is to have a guy on the field, wielding a weapon. That's how the points, and silver is made. Re-rolling is designed to suck you dry (And not in a good way). Use what you get. Min-Maxing as a BR1-3 player isn't worth it considering its -Massive-, and -Escalating- costs.

3. Not all guns in Enlisted needs to be upgraded*.

- All bolt actions are perfectly deadly without upgrades. This is particularly important when starting out.
- If you really feel you need an upgrade, get only the first one to more ably land mid to long distance shots over open sights.
- Semi-Automatics and automatics can be a bit different, but by the time you really go all in on that, you hopefully have enough silver to do so. Again, first upgrade is generally the key. The rest of the Upgrades are Amazing! But ask yourself the question: Can you afford it? (If you are reading this, chances of a No is exponentially higher).

(*Guns like the Semi automatic M1 Carbine and Volksgewehr 1-5 benefit -massively- from being fully upgraded, but are typically viewed as exceptions).

4. Only buy what you need.

- There are no rebates for bulk purchases, and selling kit you own only nets you a tiny fraction in returns. Better hold onto what you have and find uses for it down the line.

5. Do not only go for stats.

- When you consider an upgrade, do not only look at its stats. Spin the weapon around, examine it thoroughly, and when testing, only buy one.

- Stats is one thing, but how it feels to use, how comfortable the sights are can matter a whole lot more than the ability to kill a soldier at an extra 100m out for a Bolt Action.
A common example can be found in the BREN gun. Its stats are entirely fine, but the sights is something you either love or completely hate. If you feel the adrenaline and love every second of firing it, good for you! If you cannot accept having half your screen covered by weapon body, maybe skip it?

Example: I stuck with ONLY the Kar 98k when picking bolt actions for the German line. (This was pre-merge true, but still valid today and I do kit my soldiers for BR1 with this still). Sure, the Pre-War's sexy, the Kriegsmodell has a rougher bang to its sound, the Carcanos are Italian... But out of them all, I liked the Sights and feel of the Kar98k and stuck by it (And saved good silver by not buying incremental upgrade bolt actions).

6. Rotate Soldiers and Kit!!!

- Starting out, you will eventually fill all your deployable squads with kit. Then you will unlock a new squad. Usually, you have to "place a squad in reserve" to make space (As you start out with 6 slots). Before you do so: Hit the "Remove Uneccesary" button in the presets tab if your outgoing troops!. Take that great gun and even the soldier from the "Leftover squad" And use them in your new one!
The squads are for two things: Researching and upgrading particular soldier types, and associated weapons. Beyond that its just a logo. So "empty" the vacation squads of kit and troops. They do Nothing sitting in your selection list, and you need people and kit elsewhere. Do not let any of it collect dust.
In general, Most squads can be reduced down to a mere 4 soldiers as a bare minimum! (With exception of rifle squads that need 5 soldiers).

"But switching kit and troops back and forth is such a hassle! Time is Silver!"
Yes it is! But just having a ton of unused equipment and soldiers locked into several dozen squads "Because you might want to quick-swap to them" is Waste of Silver. And if Time=Silver, then wasted Silver=wasted time!

7. If you -Have- to sell a gun, make sure the sell upgrade in the weapon tree is maxed out.
-That way you get more back. Easy.

8. The starting Basic guns can only be "Thrown Away" But here is the trick!
- If it comes with a Bayonet. Go Click on the bayonet on the weapon selection menu and Double Click to Unequip the bayonet! You can now sell the Bayonet!
If you just click throw away, the gun is lost along with the 5 Silver.
(It also works for higher lv weapons, but those you are typically unlikely to sell).

*NOTE* Bayonets once sold cannot be bought back. Secondly, bayonets, when equipped to weapons add a miniscule hidden stats to its performance... You can also charge with the bayonet.
But if, like me, you have 100+ basic springfields, and want some spring cleaning, well... Go right ahead.

Still. Make sure you retain enough basic rifles to be able to use the preset key to de-equip their good weapons before "storage".

9. Most stuff can be sold, but be mindful.
Remember, you only get a -tiny- part of its purchase value in return. You can sell 5 surplus medikits today... And end up buying them back later... Waste of silver.

Typically, leftover knives (and basic rifles, more above) are the most common items to lay about when you dismiss a soldier permanently, in addition to aforementioned bayonet trick.

10. Pistols and second weapons are occasionally cool.
But generally not worth it if Silver is scarce. Focus on utilities like grenades, ammo puches, mines or placeable explosives.

Binoculars are in 99%* of cases not worth its expense. Avoid. They have no utility, improve nothing and while useful for spotting tanks, in general a scope or an elevated position will do the same for free.

(*The 1% Case is for TANKERS! If you pop out of the top hatch and equip binos the tanker will crouch slightly, making you less obvious while still allowing you to fire the tanks armament and roof mounted machine gun (With optics).

11. Resetting Perks is expensive!
Go watch or read some guides on "Enlisted Perks"... This will mostly ensure you will not have to reset a lot of costly Skill perk trees.
For players starting out, assigning everything immediately can prove expensive down the line.
How to make Silver? (and Exp)
Fight battles! Is the simple answer, the more complex one is to take full advantage of the many ways the game allows you to earn Points. Killing enemies and Capturing objectives are incredibly valuable, but if you are not quite confident in locking down a point against a horde of automatic wielding Sweaty Tryhards yet, these are your solutions:

1. Engineers
This guy is pure gold. -The Bread And Butter- .
- Slap up a rally point at a good spot and watch the points roll in.

Barbed wire, sandbag cover and ammo boxes also contribute when used by other players and their bots, so spread them well.

- Sandbags when taking a bullet aimed for a bot or a player, will award you points.

- Barbed wire when hurting enemies give you points. (In general A single line will do. If you do double tight lines, the AI will try to avoid it, unless no other path is available).

- Ammo boxes when used by other players give you points.

- Emplacements like machine guns, AA guns and Ampulomets give you points when others use them.
(Yes you get more for making the kills with them yourself, but if you are elsewhere, its a passive way to gain points).

- Fixing friendly vehicles give you points. It does not matter if it is a tank, truck or motorcycle.

2. Medics.
Bots and players get hurt all the time.
- Placing the medic box in view of a rally, or at the frontline is a sure way to snatch up some more points.
- You can heal other players and bots for points by sticking them with the needle. Look for a Medic Cross above their heads, run up to them and stick'em with the syringe as required by pressing the relevant prompt key.

- Reviving downed bots and players also give you points.

At the end of battle, being the "Best" at something (Most kills, most raliies, best medic, best Engineer) Adds bonuses essential to your Silver gain. So strive to be best! Even if it isn't Snap 360 noscope hipfire squadwipes at 500m.

...
...

But even with stupidly effective boosts, a relatively good round and accolades up to your neck, Silver gain is, and will likely always be pretty poor.
(Yes I have disposable income. It does not mean I do not understand the challenges concerning Silver. I flat out refuse to purchase any).
Battlepass and Premium time!
GAIJIN SIMP!!! You're trying to trick me into spending money! (*Bayonet flashes*)

Okay, before you bayonet me, hear me out.
If there is -ONE- investment in the game I wholeheartedly recommend, it is this one:

The Battlepass costs 900 gold and runs for +/- 90 days. It allows you to complete 1 Step (At 3 missions per step). A day. (As a free player, if you opt into the BP by purchasing, it will allow you to complete 3 steps.
The BP initially has 75 steps. BUT it continues with repeatable steps after 75, as shown below.
The repeatable EXP bonuses can be saved by not clicking "Get Rewards" meaning you can build up ridiculous bonuses and gamble for the big roll, for 3 matches.
But it might not always pay out...

Finally, here is the most important part:

IF you invest in the battlepass and complete it, you get FULL returns on your initial investment! That 900 gold you spent unlocking the battlepass, you -GET BACK- if you complete the Battlepass.
Not only that, upon completion and purchase of the BP, you will have earned 100 gold for free spending.
You can complete the BP without paying, but it will be slower (As you can only complete 3 missions for 1 step a day). You can then buy it when its done and reap all the rewards of the BP. (Including the gold).
The Achivements tabs and ranks also awards BP progress in some instances for completing weekly updated missions. (One mission a week, in the lines of "Kill 250 infantry with an SMG).

- Premium time has history of being sold at 50% off sometime during Winter holidays, and once close to summer holidays.

- Premium Squad discounts appear from time to time, but these too have history of large, sweeping sales in Winter Holiday. In addition, important Dates throughout the year can also see sales. Such as D-Day, VE-Day. Or themed occasions like Dunkirk Evac, Battle of Moscow, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, 1st Battle of Kursk etc.

End of Battlepass Season, and what to do when the new one starts!
Before the Current Season ends:
If you have invested time to complete the outgoing BP, consider buying Elite Battlepass access. It will require a 10€ Initial investment. By doing so, you will earn the 1k Gold from the outgoing season, allowing you to get the Next season Elite BP at no cost.

Have you claimed all your rewards from the outgoing BP? If not, consider doing so, but keep these things in mind:
1. The visible Countdown starts 3 days before the end of the season and can be seen in this format on the BP Tab itself Example: (2D 23H). Check when this is in your local time and plan ahead.

- IF you have claimed all your rewards, no worries! You are quite safe.

- IF you haven't completed the outgoing season, consider how to best do so by your own means. the GOLD rewards are to many the most important. (As collecting them all will allow you to get the next season BP at no cost).

- IF you have Completed the Outgoing BP and is collecting the recurring EXP boosters and Silver rewards, here is the tricks to remember.
- The end of Season Stack.
If you have a good stack of unclaimed EXP boosters lined up, wait as long as you deem safe before redeeming before BP season end. (Remember that Exp boosters claimed through BP has an 18 hour timer, and CONTINUE across BP seasons.
- So if you Claim them with say 4 hours left on the Outgoing season, you will have 14 hours into the new one where you can enjoy playing your superstacked EXP. Particularly for Europeans this can be beneficial considering the BP tends to end during European Work hours. So to get maximum benefits, claim before work (IF work hours cover BP end hour), go to work and still have time to do the Stack later.

After the New season begins:

The BP will state you can complete steps for both the "New BP and the Outgoing BP" This is correct with modifications!

You can still complete 1 step (Or 3 with the new season). But you can spread them between the old and new at your leisure.

Unless you are missing Critical rewards (Gold, or Gold orders for instance) In the Outgoing season... Put off completing missions until after the new one begins.
Gold, beautiful Gold~
From the Book of the Appeasement of the Snail Overlord reads:

"So it was, the Player doth visited the Gaijin Store Website, and logged in with sine Account details... Done, the Player prayed unto the Great Snail Overlord, and having gained Its attention, rendered unto the Great Snail Overlord, a portion of the Player's coveted Cash, for surely, the Great Snail Overlord Coveted the Player's Cash more.

Follow'd upon a pause, for certainly doth the Great Snail Overlord count every bit of the Player's offering, and seeing it paid in full, issued forth a Shower of Gold onto the Player, who praised Thrice the Great Snail Overlord for its Magnificence...
So the Deal was struck, and the Player hath rendered unto the Great Snail Overlord, a piece of its Soul... In exchange for a digital currency, and the Terrible Scourge of Gambling Addiction...
Praise the Great Snail Overlord! x3

Thou shalt render unto the Snail Overlord thine Physical Currency, thine Soul, thine Time.
Praise the Snail Thrice, once for Each rendered possession, and be Blessed..."

- The Book of the Appeasement of the Snail Overlord Chapter 1, Page 3, v 24-27.

In all seriousness.

So you have gained some amount of gold by putting some cash into the game...
Your reasons are your own, and some spend out of neccesity, others for fun, and some does not spend a single copper coin and are happy...

But what to spend it on?

First, what -Not- to spend it on.
1. Finishing research in the Tech Tree (It gets expensive real fast, don't do it).
2. Levelling up Soldiers (Don't, while the cost isn't upfront all that (40gold for lv 5) you likely have up to 9 soldiers in your squad, and that's just one squad...)
3. Cosmetics (Yes, you look great, but only for -One- particular warfront ATM. You buy a Tunic on Tunisia, and you will have to buy it again for Berlin, or Stalingrad, or Moscow, if it is even included to begin with in those warfronts... Don't). Cosmetic tickets often feature in small and big events, and the BP offers a good chuck of them as well.
4. Purchasing Squad Levels. Play, and it will solve itself.
5. Silver. (Silver, while after the big change is easier to come by, and definitely gets you more per silver coin now... It's still not worth exchanging for gold...
6. Cosmetics for vehicles. Like above, don't. There are -SOME- exceptions where cosmetics can be added for Pure FUN (Like covering the MG port weakness on a Jumbo Sherman with bushes... A classic). ...
...

But it is and Gets REALLY expensive FAST!

What you Can/Should spend it on:
1. The Battlepass. As pointed out earlier, if you get it once and play through it, the gold you've gained will keep this option open in theory indefinitely. (Cost: 900 Gold per season. If you complete it, you gain 1000 gold by Purchasing the pass ONCE. (1000 gold Roughly equals 10£/$, The cost of a Pizza or two).
2. Premium Time. This solves nearly all of the problems related to Silver in the game, it also speeds up leveling of all units. "Usually" Features in 50% off Sales During Winter Holiday, and summer Holiday.
3. IF FOMO is about to get you... It -IS- possible to wait out an ongoing event, and purchase the missing rewards if you are doing something more important that week (Like Living, being Sick, or Working, or spending time with loved ones). But in general, if you play the event, its free.
4. Premium Squads. They can have some really cool gimmicks, make no mistake, but in general, no squad is worth its standard non-discounted asking price. (Again, Sales around Important landmark WW2 events, Holiday season and summer holidays, VE day etc).
Closing words
Silver gain is abysmal. There is no way around that. In general, DF puffs a lot of smoke but rarely make much fire when it comes to improving the Silver economy.
EXP rolls in generously by comparison.

Edit: Surprise! DF made changes to the Silver economy! And the changes are really good!

Things that would have an impact:

1. Remove purchase costs for unlocking new squads and vehicles. (Edit. It has been drastically reduced as of 14.08.24 and can be safely stricken, even if it still is not free).
2. Boost silver gain overall (Good, but has so far been generally underwhelming) 14.08.24 changes make silver gain relatively better.
3. Make event participation more profitable in terms of silver (Events typically consist of either missions directly awarding silver, or stages that has a -chance- to net you silver).

(IF these 3 points came to be, I'd frankly delete this guide).

At present, I have 700+ hours in this game. I am still making prudent choices (And occasionally failing) when it comes to what I buy.
Huge change has Arrived!!
https://steamhost.cn/news/app/2051620/view/4372517795019679385?l=english

This change is huge and is now live on the Server.

It made "everything" -much- cheaper (In terms of general progression).

What did change was the end-game focus of Min/Max'ing of Soldier Skills (Perks) That Saw a hike in price.
The Price of adding Research Points to the Tree (To finish ongoing or next research step with gold) Also saw a big price hike... But why would you even consider spending Gold on that?
This should not however be much of an issue for New players at BR 1-3. (While the skills are generally useful, there are good guides available on YT and here that will help you go right the first time).
As for Research in the Tech tree, you level pretty smoothly already.

Gold atm only offers shortcuts and access to premium squads/vehicles. Nothing strictly neccesary for gameplay.
One exception is the BP. It costs 900 to unlock, but pays out 1000, giving a 100 net gain... Nothing that will significantly get you anywhere. At 400 gold earned after a full year. (4 seasons)

Great guide AND text, had good laughs lol

What about gold? Only way to get gold is by paying, right? Many things are only accessible by gold.
