ohh I only meant the crickets as examples, but I totally see your point. I admire your input, especially regarding the immersion part. I'm excited with what you got in store for us!

there are sounds I'm currently looking at changing though, like Footsteps, Safe Room Music, Tank Music, and maybe weapon noises

any sound effect in the game can be replaced if all of the steps are taken correctly, but asking "should they be replaced?" should be the first step. for example cricket noises, as they currently are add a sense of life to the ground you walk on. just like in real life you get used to them and forget they are there, but if they were to change or go quiet then you'd notice something is odd.to my current knowledge Silent Hill 2 had 4 main ways immersing the player, namely the songs/ambient tracks, footsteps, complete silence, and the flow of wind through the town. the only bugs I can think of would be the large Creepers, I could change crickets to the Creeper sounds but if I did it would turn the immersive cricket noises into a distracting rusty unicycle. . . in saying all of this I intend to mean that some sounds are better left alone where as others can be welcome changes

not quite sure about the map-based stuff, because of my very limited knowledge, but there are some files I've found in the game that adds cricket noises, water loop, rain loop or birds chirping, I'm not sure. I was wondering if those are the audio stuff that could be replaced, that way it works in the vanilla maps

I would need to know what kind you mean before I answer that, because environmental sounds are map based I think it would be hard to make them fit seamlessly

are you planning to make environement or atmosphere sounds as well?

both orders fulfilled, I don't know how many requests I'll take but this was an interesting day

Could you make one with only the ost peace and serenity?

that is a really good idea, though for this sound conversion I intend to keep it only Silent Hill 2 sound effects. but I can make a separate mod that only changes the original safe room music to that song since it would be really easy to do
