Battle Strategies and the First Boss

This guide will give basic information and some answers (I hope) for how to deal with the first world's boss. It will help with general leveling information as well. Contains spoilers obviously.

Battle Strategies
1. The golden rule here is that Leaf beats Storm beats Magma (which beats leaf). This is rock, paper and scissors. So a good team for just running around (non-boss fights) is one of each so you always have an effective Blob. Ideally, they all have an AoE ability (the one with two people as the icon). There are neutral moves (they have a blank in the upper left rather than an elemental icon) that do damage regardless but don't get a bonus vs the weaker element but no penalty vs a stronger one. One of these is dash attack (see the image further below).

2. Leveling: You get experience by defeating blobs by a set formula: the average level of your blobs vs the average level of the enemy blobs. So the best thing to do is to be fighting blobs that are about the same level as your blobs to get maximum experience. Power leveling tip: Use one blob that is strong against the type of blob you will face so that you get maximum experience with little risk. If you fight villagers or people in town, there is no risk anyway and you get experience even if you lose. For example, if you're fighting someone with a fire blob, use a similar level storm blob and you should prevail at the same or close level.

3. If you know that the first blob to use a move will knockout all the enemies, then choose defend for the others rather than a move. The reason for this is that defend adds back energy as soon as you press it. Alternatively, you should use an item to prep for the next fight or save a blob.

4. I can't overstress patience if you're having trouble with a fight or especially a boss fight. Train up your blobs, breed newer/stronger blobs.

5. Great ways to train: Challenge villagers and visitors (you get experience even if you lose). Another way is to fish, especially at the beach. When the red symbol appears, fight them. Beating up on these mobs nets you one reward per blob (for instance, two sand and an oyster for 3 blob teams) plus experience.

6. When breeding mobs, try to have an AoE attack along with one each of the three areas to level. Credit here to the breeding guide by PinkGeeRough. This will help you to be able to respond to any situation.

7. Don't enter the tournament until the blobs (in the world, like when you are fishing and get the red mark) are below your main team's levels and you get little from battling them. For instance, when you win the rookie tournament, those blobs raise their level to 24. When you win the copper tournament, their level goes to 33. So wait until your main team is at or above those levels to go and win the tournament.

8. Remember that if an enemy blob attacks while you're casting, you will take a critical hit.

9. Boss Blobs: The easiest way to beat them is to out level them by a lot. The first world boss blob is pretty easily defeated by a 40+ level team especially with Magma (fire blobs). Other strategies are situational, but don't take chance with being crit and remember to use items liberally (over plan for the win).

10. A good practice before going into the Blob world is to manually save at your house so you can reload it if you have a problem.

11. How do you get higher level blobs with good moves? Read the Breeding Guide here on steam by PinkGeeRough. Breeding makes blobs stronger along with using toys to level their energy and feed their cravings every day which levels their health. Attack (sword icon) and Defense (shield icon) seem to be more important than speed (the clock icon), but all help you.

This screenshot is of a team I'm training up for the second world boss though I might change out 1 or 2 before going there. They would shred the first world boss easily, so it just takes some breeding, training and patience. Notice that Sadie has one of each type of move and two AoE moves so everything she does levels something important.

If you have anything to add or questions to ask, just leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer it. I'll add anything to the guide that needs correction, clarification or which is better than whatever I wrote.
