Intro
It's safe to assume that you're here because your game keeps crashing on you when you're trying to enter a lobby for the co-op mode (via the Dead Men Walking) playlist or at the very least on the end results screens, preventing you for completing the match.

Unfortunately, it's a well-known issue in the vanilla version of the game, likely related to the unusually high scores on the global leaderboard "achieved" by obvious cheaters, which result in frequent CTDs (crashes-to-desktop) and make this mode virtually unplayable for everyone else (thanks, cheaters, we can always count on you to spoil the fun for the rest of us, legitimate players 😕).

Thankfully, there IS something than can be done about this: mods that fix this issue. One of them is already covered in this Steam guide by Rhia:

This mod requires an extra tool called OpenIV to be applied, tho, and thus is more difficult to install. Plus, it modifies the original files, which some people might not be inclined to do.

Instead, I recommend MaxPayne3.FusionFix by ThirteenAG >>>[github.com] as it's relatively easy to install and doesn't require manual modding of any of the original files.

I've tried and tested it myself and can confirm that it works like a charm. As far as I can tell, it disables the global leaderboards - among other things - preventing the crashes, making the mode playable again for anyone who's interested in this co-op offering. And you probably should because IMO it's quite fun, even if it gets rather repetitive after a while. And you DEFINITELY should if you want the Breaking and Entering achievement that can only be unlocked through this playlist.
How to install the Fusion Fix properly
1️⃣ Download this .ZIP archive from GitHub >>>[github.com] and open it.

2️⃣ Locate the root folder for the game (i.e. the folder where Max Payne3.exe is located). On Steam, you can do that by right clicking the game in your library, selecting Manage followed by Browse local files from the drop-down menus, and then opening Max Payne 3 subfolder inside the main installation folder.

3️⃣ Copy or simply drag & drop all the folders and files from the previously downloaded .ZIP archive into this folder.

4️⃣ Launch the game and play the co-op mode without crashes, yay!
