Intro
Here are the steps I took to achieve the 1 billion star credits for Stardeus.

Start by selling at spaceports and stations.

Start Mining Starcreds.

Use Stock market.

Beginning Money
I started out selling platinum at every spaceport and station that I could find because it has the highest value for a refined metal. This was not my main way to earn star credits in the end.

This money is to just get you started for the late game and really ramping up money production.
Big Profits
When I entered the late game, using mostly Nuclear Reactors for energy, I did start mining for Star Credits using the Miner Upgrade and a ton of GPU Modules, for mining, and a ton of Memory Modules. You need both in order to mine a lot of Starcreds. They are both found in the Computing Section. Don't forget to add the Memory Compression Upgrades the the Memory Stacks.
In the money screen it will show you how much GPU Capacity you have and the available memory you have. These numbers need to match to be optimal. It will tell you the Effective GPU count.
I was able to get up to about 19K Starcreds an hour. This is only to help build money passively.

The best way to get to 1 Billion is the stock market but you need to understand how it works, when to buy and when to sell.

You can always start out on cheaper items to build up but the best items to buy are the expensive ones.

The best ones I used were:

Nuclear Cell,
Platinum Ingot,
Rainforest,
Memory Compression Upgrade,
Starcreds Miner,
Energy Rifle.

To understand them each stock has the following important information, Current Price, High Price, Low Price, and Global Long Trend.

Buy Low, Sell High.

To help visualize, the yellow bar across is the average price of when you bought all of the current units for stocks for that item. Sell above that bar, buy below that bar.

Starcreds Miner can go Extremely High in price so buy soon and buy often if you can.

When I first really started with the Stock market I only had about 100 Mill Credits and spread my money out too much on cheap items that didn't give good returns. When I focused on the expensive items and only bought when they were low and kept an eye on them then I made the huge money. Unlike the real world focus your investments on the high end units but only when the Price is cheap and the Long Term Forecast is Rise or Surge. You will need a fair bit of start up capital to get going but it will snowball.

When I got the achievement I had spent 250 Mill on Rainforest when it was 5K per unit and the long and short forecast was to Rise or Surge. I was able to buy 55,000 units and in about 15 minutes it reached a price of about 20K per unit and I was a 1 billionaire.

Hope this helps with this achievement hunting. Good Luck!

@Daniel.Kiwi Platinum is easily farmed through Rock deposits and Grinders.

It may be old, I wrote this last September (2024) when I first got into the game. There have been many updates since written.

This is old?
Platinum doesn't show in an easy or medium sectors, so can't mine for early credits

However the part that I didn't understand until far too late into the game...

When the %change of a stock on the list of stocks is unlocked:
Make the list of stocks easy to scan through visually with a scroll. The player's goal is to find a stock that's starting to Rise or Surge with a high % of change and who's short trend isn't a negative one, and which isn't stunted by negative group / whole market trends. (If it is, it might be better to sit out the market's recession.)

PS: The forecasts might not be 100%, make sure to check every day or two and sell as needed. The stocks I purchased most frequently were Rainforest and RogueAI, but if I'd had the money to get in early the 'forbidden items' Market Asimov Upgrade would have been a lot of guaranteed growth.

For anyone else who read this Guide and still didn't understand the stock market UI; I asked.

In case that Imgur link dies at some point:

[*]There are Correlated Group Trend(s), and if multiple groups are listed you can see them.
