What is this?
In 2024, many years after the English Vita, PS4, and PC releases of Tokyo Xanadu, Aksys released the Switch version of Tokyo Xanadu in English along with an updated localization. Unfortunately, this update was not made available to other versions of the game. But with the power of modding, we can put this update into the PC version ourselves!
How to Install
First, download and install SenPatcher. You can follow this guide for instructions on how to do that:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3328189327

Once that's done, download: https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/SenPatcher/releases/download/v1.2/tx_switch.zip

Inside this archive you will find a readme and several *.p3a files.

Take all of the *.p3a files and place them inside the 'mods' directory of your 'Tokyo Xanadu eX+' game directory. If you don't have this directory, please make sure SenPatcher is installed correctly and launch the game once.

And that's all there is to it! Enjoy experiencing the game with the updated localization!

I can't really point at one specific thing, but to me the script just reads a million times better than the old one. Characters have proper voices, it doesn't try to add American slang that feels completely out of place in the setting, there's much less feeling of lack of context in the editing, and most importantly the script doesn't deteriorate into nonsense in the late game like the old one. It's still definitely not a perfect script, a little bit of extra QA would have been appreciated especially when it comes to menu text and image asset consistency, but given the choice I would always pick the Switch one.
