Introduction
Achievement hunting is a pointless popular hobby for a lot of gamers. When it comes to L4D2, it's not too challenging to get most of the achievements, with one exception: Good Guy Nick, awarded for helping a free weekend player beat a campaign. This achievement has stopped many hunters from reaching a perfect 100% completion for the game. But not anymore! This guide will show you exactly how to unlock it, so you can finally shut the ♥♥♥♥ up and stop spamming the forums accomplish your dreams.
Method 1: obtaining Good Guy Nick legitimately
Step 1: You can't. It's not possible.

Good Guy Nick is awarded for helping a free weekend player survive a campaign. If you think about this for more than a fraction of a second, you'll realise that anybody who owned a free weekend copy of the game would only own it during that weekend, and therefore couldn't play it once the weekend was over. And it's pretty hard to help someone survive a campaign if they don't even own the game.

Despite this concept being embarrassingly simple, it continues to fly over the heads of hundreds of achievement hunters to this day.
Method 2: obtaining Good Guy Nick illegitimately
That being said, it's still possible to unlock Good Guy Nick IF you're willing to bend the rules a bit.

First, lets look at what the intent behind the achievement is.

Based on the wording of the description, the intent could be interpreted one of two ways:

1) Valve wanted to encourage people to play during the free weekend period

2) Valve wanted to encourage veteran players to help out new players and make sure their first experience with the game was a positive one

Option 1 makes no sense from an achievement standpoint; it isn't challenging, and there's no point in being given an achievement just for showing up at the right time. Option 2 is an accurate description of what Valve intended the achievement to be for. It was created to incentivize veteran players to be good team players and help the less experienced players. Based on this, it's fair to say that if you want to earn the Good Guy Nick achievement, what you need to do is help out a new player.

Step 1: Find somebody who has never played L4D2 before. Ideally, find a friend and gift them the game.

Step 2: Play a full campaign with them and help them survive it.

If you can follow these two steps, then you've essentially fulfilled the requirements for the achievement, just at the wrong time. That's literally the only thing setting you apart from somebody who earned it legitimately: they did it within a limited, 2 day window, and you didn't. Hardly seems worth restricting an achievement over doesn't it?

Now, as for actually unlocking the achievement, you'll need to use a program called Steam Achievement Manager (SAM).

Following this link (https://github.com/gibbed/SteamAchievementManager/releases/tag/7.0.25) will let you download SAM. You can also just google "Steam Achievement Manager", it's very easy to find.

After you download SAM, open SAMPicker, choose L4D2, find the Good Guy Nick achievement and unlock it. You'll see the Steam notification appear, and the achievement will be added to your account.

SAM is safe to use; it won't get you banned, and aside from the date on the achievement there's no possible way of knowing whether you used SAM or unlocked it legitimately. It uses the exact same methods that Steam does, just via a different program.
Conclusion
Nobody else gives a ♥♥♥♥ about how you got your achievement, it literally does not matter and they'll never know.

@120fov just use SAM to change it to literally whatever you want. Any stats you can remember, edit it to those. If you can't remember, just make a guess thats close enough.
