Oh God I'm.... I'm gonna vroom! AHHHHHHH I'M VrOOOOOMING AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This is a wordy, but generally helpful guide to S rank the new Psycho Taxi minigame.

Keep in mind: there is NO achievement for it, it is NOT required for 100%, hell there isn't even a reward for doing it outside the coins you earn delivering people. You're PURELY doing this for bragging rights and maybe a screenshot that will get 3 likes.

But if you're a real Taxipilled Vroommaxxer like me, then you want it DONE.

So here's how ya do it.
Edging the Taxi
This section is NOT necessary to play or beat the mini-game.

All you need is the cartridge in the arcade level and then drive up to the arcade cabinet left of that levels entrance. However, you're going to have a significantly better time AFTER getting very familiar with your movement and the game + extras gives you what you need.

1. Learn all your tech

I'll put it in the next section for those who want a reminder, but PLEASE wait until after you've beaten the game.

I won't say much else, but simply put: you have all the tools you need very early in the game, and gradually you'll discover them. The game also puts in soft checkpoints VIA nps to tell you (in the hub area).

2. Beat the Game

Self explanatory. This gives you the experience and tools you need

3. Get all the gears

Alot of the bonus gears will have to do precise tricks, boosts, and movement. This will help you ace it.

Vrooment Tech
Again, this section is ENTIRELY movement tech. Skip it if you've finished the game OR haven't at least finished it (seen the credits) cause half the fun of this game is LEARNING naturally what you can do. Srsly you will ruin a great chunk of fun if you spoil all except the last movement tech.

Yo mama.

Accelerate: Go forward. Works in the air and ground
Reverse: Go backwards. Works in the air and ground

Accelerate + reverse: quick turn. Useful for tight turns, but unnecessary for most of the game and this mini game.

Spin: spin then dash. Good for launching off ramps, NOT faster then just pressing gas on the ground. Even in its other variant

SUPER spin: If you accelerate RIGHT after a spin, you'll be LAUNCHED with WAY more speed. This will give you RIDICULOUS height off a ramp. Take time to practice this, as basically almost every boost you do should be super boosted in this minigame.
-> Reminder: super boosting is NOT faster then just accelerating. It's good if you're at a standstill, but if you're already going full speed and AREN'T in the air, just driving with accelerate is faster.
-> does not give additional speed when combined with a speed arrow. Just drive into it normally.

Flip: Press Accelerate whilst spinning to flip upside down. This gives you a short hop.

- You can either flip AGAIN in midair to jump and boost over small obstacles, or hit the ground to bounce and give you even more air over medium obstacles. You can also flip and cancel in the air for a double jump in ANY direction. Again, useful for getting over stuff; but don't use it unnecessarily. Recovering from a spin or hopping upright takes time and momentum.

Backflip: Press REVERSE whilst spinning to do a backflip. this gives you a LARGE hop that can clear most obstacles on its own. HOWEVER: you can only use this back flip straight back, or left / right by holding that direction when you hit reverse in the spin (this is based on where your camera is pointing). You can chain this into a second back flip as well; this can clear very large obstacles when done right, but its tricky to do and requires a bit of practice.

Wall climb: If you have enough speed and hold accelerate off a jump: your tires can grip onto a wall and trade a LOT of speed for some vertical. This is especially powerful to use off a super boost. There's a few walls you can climb around the map to make things easier.

Wall jump: The trickiest trick in the game, and one the game doesn't even tell you about!

- If you're wall climbing and hold straight left / right whilst accelerating: you'll JUMP in that respective direction. I have not found any gears requiring this, nor any particularly useful shortcuts with it. Its also super f*cking difficult to control. If you find a trick with it then feel free to comment, but otherwise I literally didn't use it once in my winning run.

That's it. Again, doing 2 and 3 will give you the brush you need to win Psycho Taxi. But here's it all listed out for those needing reminder.

AND yo daddy.
Time to VROOM
1. Play it a few times.

Self explanatory. There's so many people, routes, boosts, timers, and locations that there's no rhyme or reason telling it all to you. Plus you'll learn and possibly discover better routes and tech with your own playtime.

I even recommend building up a timer and then exploring a bit during a run. Finding hidden people, timers, and routes is much easier when you're intentionally doing so.

Here's a few good shortcuts / tips I know of:

- You go fastest on the ground holding accelerate. I've tested it and the fastest way to get anywhere is usually driving in a straight line whilst turning as little as possible. Now it is faster to GET to max speed from standstill VIA a super boost, but once you're going, just hit the gas and dodge.

- NEVER use fire hydrants. They suck. They kill all your momentum and take your ground jump. Its ALWAYS faster to just spin cancel / backflip cancel over something than it is to use a fire hydrant. Hell, some even make certain jumps / routes HARDER than if you just double jump. Idk why they're here.

- Near the park landing spot, there's a few small rocks located along that wall. If you can angle your car right you can super boost straight up the wall back to the center area. Practice it a few times and this'll give you 2 - 3 easy "Psychotic" times.

- The tornado's can be used to easily get to the second level if needed. Though don't use them over a good super boost ramp.

- Hit speed arrows anytime you can. This gives you a boost in a straight line, but be careful cause you CANT brake out of it, even if you let go of the gas. (There's one person who stands near some speed arrows and you're going to fly past her once or twice before you learn)
-> if you're going downhill on the side with the speed arrows, you can release accelerate and tap the break lightly to slow down enough to NOT jump over it & hit it down. This is MUCH faster than boosting down or jumping over them full speed.

- The fastest way to pick a person up is to stop holding gas just before getting to them. Aim left or right before you get them so you don't accidentally hit them.
--> IF YOU REMEMBER WHERE THE PERSONS DROP OFF POINT IS: Point your taxi in the right direction FIRST before you pick them up. This can turn a lot of nice's into greats, and even get you more "psychotic"'s.

- the fastest way to drop a person off is to release accelerate and hit brake in the landing zone! Your taxi comes to a full stop for like half a second, which is enough to trigger the drop off animation. This saves like milliseconds btw, but it can add up.

2. Get difficult people first

There's a few people who are either hard to get to OR require you to cross the map. I recommend getting these people quickly, as a few of them alone can be run enders if a certain jump doesn't line up.

-> Special shoutout to the twin tower troublemakers. These 2 require you to get on top of the 2 buildings near the start. The best, and most consistent way, to get them up is via super boosting on the large ramp to their side, then driving up the wall of the adjacent building. You can do a spin cancel into a backflip to get up easily if you get the air (it will just not work sometimes; keep firing.)

--> for the muscular dude near the Marco's pizza spot (on top of the small building nearby), you CAN super boost off the double ramped building nearby and launch straight onto the roofs of the large building. But you only really have one shot and you need a GOOD launch.

Make sure to jump off the FIRST ramp touching the ground, the second roof ramp rarely gave me the needed height.

If you're REALLY lucky you'll get so much air you can go straight up / to the second building, but you can land on any of the roofs to get over easier

--> there is a REALLY slow way to get up via the elevators on the opposite side, but failing the wall climb trick multiple times was faster than it still

3. Chain people

This one you probably already do, but just in case: Always pick up the closest person to your landing spot in the beginning. There's people everywhere, so just getting to and delivering people to give you a comfy timer is priority till mid -> lategame

4. Remember timer and people locations

Again, you probably already do this, but once you get mid to late game: start to remember any people or timers you haven't grabbed yet. There are going to be moments where a certain route takes you near a sneaky timer or you're close to a person thats out of sight. Memory is what turns a good run into a completed run.

And finally

5. Take breaks. Please.

This is unironically the hardest thing to do in the game. It's 5 - 15 minutes per attempt, you have to constantly re-adjust whenever a jump comes out wrong or God forbid you run into something, and again there are particularly nasty people who can, alone, end runs if the games just not giving a jump to you. Sometimes just putting it down and coming back tomorrow is the kick you need to get it done.
Post Rut Clarity
Welp. That's it really. There's no specific route or guide to follow. When I finally did it I had +30 seconds left, and my route was NOT optimal at all. It's not like crazy hard (ironically), but its unquestionably difficult and WILL test your Taxi skills to their max.

I'd honestly call it an endurance / consistency test more than anything. But that's just what vrooming does to you.

Repeat if you wanna get a better time; but I think there's, thankfully, not any rank higher than S.
BUT if you know any other good tips / tricks, or if there's something I missed, feel free to clown me in the comments.

Vroom on fellas

thank you for making this guide. it was fun to read and informative.

though theres a typo here:

Flip: Press ACCELERATE whilst spinning to flip upside down. This gives you a short hop.

also, jumping off a ramp is annoyingly inconsistent. ive found doubletapping accelerate just after you spin will sometimes give you crazy height though

the timer seems to go faster towards the end, so i wonder if itd be good to get the clocks early. theres 2 on buildings, 2 IN buildings, and one on the pyramid. i dont remember the rest.
