The Postal Movie

Buy The Postal movie key from RWS:
https://runningwithscissors.com/product/postal-the-movie-steam-key/

Steam page:
https://steamhost.cn/app/697440/POSTAL_The_Movie/
Steam desc:
POSTAL is insulting, irreverent, politically incorrect and funny as hell.
POSTAL follows two days in the life of the Postal Dude, in the
regrettably named town of Paradise. Just when he thinks he has hit
rock bottom, things get worse.
Sharing a trailer with his ever-expanding wife, ♥♥♥♥♥, Dude is in a bad
way. After a humiliating job interview and a nearly lethal trip to the
welfare office, Dude finds himself on the doorstep of his Uncle Dave.
Despite being the successful leader of the town cult, Dave is also
finding himself in financial difficulties. Together, Dude and Dave hatch
a plan to steal some valuable merchandise. Unfortunately for them,
the much better organized and much better equipped Taliban has
converged on Paradise for more sinister reasons. Things spiral out of
control when Osama Bin Laden is forced to call in his friend George W
Bush as back up. Few are left standing by the time Dude turns his
back on Paradise.
Dude quickly learns how liberating it can be when there is nothing left
to lose. He learns never to trust a messiah, especially when that
messiah has written his own bible. He learns that you can find love in
the most unlikely places, even when the object of your affections is
holding a gun to your head. Most importantly, he learns that there is
nothing that a well timed nuclear explosion can’t solve.
Steam Cards

As expected after buying the Postal movie you'll be able to make booster packs to get the cards for your own Postal movie badges. But what about the steam drops? There things get a little complicated...

Since Valve abandoned the selling of movies on steam, they will now open in the browser instead of steam which doesn't allows us to get any possible card drop after buying movie. That also will be a reason why points shop and items from it were blocked from steam market.

But even tho steam says that items are "no longer available" you can still easily obtain and use them for for chatting and your steam profile like i did:
How to obtain cards without steam market?
Even tho cards are no longer available to but or sell on steam market there's still a lot of ways to obtain them for our precious badge so let's list them all:
1) Getting cards from disabled card drop
As expected every time you buy a game you have a few free card drops for playing it but as said before you're no longer can play videos/movie on steam. However there's still a pretty easy way to obtain them without any 3rd party software.
Step 1: Add any .exe as a Non-Steam game. (in my case postal 1)
Step 2: Go to the folder where the .exe you picked is located in and make a file called "steam_appid.txt" and write 697440 into it and save.
Step 3: Launch the Non-Steam game (by .exe file) you added from Steam. It should show that you're "playing" POSTAL the Movie while it's running.
2) Creating booster packs
Probably the worst but still working way to get more cards is creating a booster packs with gems which you can get outta useless items from your inventory. Booster for POSTAL movie costs 462 gems and each one will give you 3 random cards (there's always a chance of same cards dropping in the same booster)
3) Trading
Most optional way to get not only the cards but also points shop items too.
Just go to the discussions page > Sub forums > Trading and find a good for yourself offer.

I can confirm the steam_appid.txt works. Make sure the name of the file doesnt include the ".txt" just its extension. You can copy another steam games "steam_appid" and just change the number the lovely author of this guide has provided.

HOWEVER, launching the .exe from the folder and not steam for the non-steam game didnt make it work. I had to launch the non-steam game from steam instead. I used Project64, the Nintendo emulator, and when I launched it through steam and not the .exe in its folder, the postal movie in my library went green, as in it was running, and in my friends list it showed me as "playing POSTAL the movie". I'm also on windows 11 so maybe that effected it.

ight just copy and paste postal 1 folder, rename it as you want and launch it (launching by pressing on exe, not "play" on steam. Atleast that's how i did it. Worked for me perfectly fine

Did you did it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common ?
Dean Ween 17 Sep, 2024 @ 6:55pm
I tried the "app id text in exe folder" method but it didn't work.
