Here's one way to beat what's probably the hardest level in Combatants, and some general strategies and tips that will work on most other levels too.

This took a couple retries since I haven't played in a week or so. I mess up a bunch but still squeeze out the win.

The Strategy

This is what I did on most levels:

Spawn a couple workers (skipped in DEATHSDOOR)
Switch to soldier production
Go kite the spider, should take ~1 minute
Return to your queen, grab a stack of 5 soldiers to mop up the enemies still alive (use the Soldier Follow command)
Now that you're shooting 6 shots at once, you can one-shot enemy ants, and you can lose 3 soldiers and still two-shot
Kite enemy workers
Approach enemy soldiers at oblique angles; once they start shooting, find an angle to just barely be able to hit them without them hitting you

How about Commando 2, have you beaten that one yet? I'm guessing the strat is rush to queen
