Yeah, pretty much the best RTS ever made, if you are into that sort of thing. And yes, I am counting more recent games in that evaluation. HOMEWORLD 2 is where it's at man.
Basically, imagine Army Ants in space. One large queen ship that produces a fleet of smaller vessels which devour everything. And unlike other RTS games at the time, you kept your fleet during mission advancement. And the difficulty of what you faced scaled in relation to your fleet resource cost, but you could halve the difficulty modifier by recycling ships you don't need into resources. Resources that are mined from asteroids.
