Description
Epic Sieges aims to transform vanilla boring and fast sieges in Bannerlord into a more realistic, challenging, and strategic experience. The mod introduces several key changes to both siege equipment and defensive structures, making battles longer, more intense, and rewarding for players who use tactical thinking.

Features:
Pushable Ladders: Inspired by iconic sieges, soldiers on the walls can now push ladders down even when they are full of attackers climbing. This makes it significantly harder for attackers to scale the walls, adding a chaotic element to the battle. The unpredictability of ladders means they should only be used as a last resort, while investing in siege towers becomes crucial for a more reliable breach. Siege towers provide a safer, more strategic approach to reaching the enemy walls, as ladders can be easily countered by a well-organized defense.

Reinforced Siege Towers & Battering Rams: Siege towers and battering rams are slower but have significantly increased HP, meaning they are no longer destroyed as quickly. This allows attackers to maintain momentum while defenders must focus on wearing them down.

Stronger Gates: Outer and inner gates are now much tougher, requiring more effort to breach. This change emphasizes the importance of siege equipment and planning to break through fortified defenses.
Weaker Barricades: Barricades have slightly reduced HP.

Adjusted Castle Wall Mass.

These changes encourage longer, more strategic sieges where every decision counts. Defenders will need to coordinate well to repel attackers, and attackers will need to make smart use of their equipment to break through defenses. Both AI and player involvement are enhanced, creating more epic, cinematic siege battles reminiscent of classic medieval warfare.

It is compatible with RBM and Vanilla AI Sieges for RBM

Oh yeah another bug. If the epic sieges mod is above RBM in the load order then the siege weapons don't have their modified realistic fire rate. If the epic sieges mod is under RBM then the troops dying function of RBM doesn't work.

Ok I found a fix for the bug with RBM. To allow soldiers to die fairly realistically during siege bombardments I have to put this mod above RBM in the load order, rather than the default being under if this mod is newly installed. This stops this mod from messing with that function of RBM but I don't know if it will mess with any of the functions of this mod.

Unless it's caused by the most recent king slayer mod, one possible bug is that during the long bombardment phase of sieges. RBM mod adds attrition as slowly troops die as the siege engines get hit and the walls get hit. But after downloading this and the king slayer mod then I see barely any troops die during siege bombardments and the "catapult hit troops" message no longer shows up.

If I had to guess then this mod increases the HP of siege towers and rams to compensate for the game's unrealistic fast reload speed of siege catapults and onagers. Is it not possible to make a realistic solution and have siege weapons like trebuchets, catapults and onagers just have slower reload speed in-game and in the bombardment phase?

Rather than making an unrealistic solution to an unrealistic problem. Simply reducing siege weapons' reload speed would balance the game without having to increase the siege engines' HP.

I like the mod but I really dont understand why Siege Engines have MORE health than the gate itself. I looked in the files and Siege towers have 15k-20k health while the outer gate has 10k.

I understand that its probably to make up for the aimbot that the AI has but it feels really shitty when im the one aiming the catapult, manage to hit the siege engines and it feels like throwing a wet towel on a wall. Anyone looking to use this mod I recommend editing the health in the files.

Why are the siege towers so beefy? No way a real siege tower could take like 20 catapult hits

Does this change anything about autoresolved sieges? It would be great it the AI wouldn't demolish other factions as fast as in vanilla

anyone complaining that it's impossible to win, attackers should always have 3 to 1 ratios min in a realistic play through. mod it up and fix the party sizes. And doors are nuke proof? you have any idea how much of a challenge it was to break down castle walls and 'doors' back in ancient times? they would reinforce them to the point the technology they had at the time would be impractical to even attempt to break it down. which id assume is why a sieges were more about waiting the enemy out until they starve and become weak, while taking skirmishing the walls. the game can allow that even in vanilla.

Attack, throw all your balls in their face with catapults, let your rangers skirmish along the walls, tell the infantry to stop. Empty? Retreat, go rearm, go back, skirmish again.

Arcade player? Wouldn't recommend mods like this.
Immersive players? Maybe more your thing.

This makes sieges pretty much impossible if you are not controlling the invading army. the enemy catapults on the wall will aim bot focus down your battering rams and towers. and the enemies will push your ladders off the walls with impunity. This is not an epic siege. this is 'Defenders win lul'
