USS Rowland Refit | Survival-Ready Deep Space Explorer

The Rowland's refit program was an effort to extend its service life by introducing 2 torpedo tubes, a secondary hull where the systems were moved to allowing more crew space in the saucer section, and a complete reconstruction of its power and propulsion systems to allow for more agility and speed.

The original Rowland-Class relied on outdated ionized propulsion jets, whereas the refit instead utilizes deuterium impulse drives to allow for greater responsiveness. The offensive armament also got upgraded, now featuring 2x torpedo tubes at the fore of the saucer section - simply open the tubes, turn on the constructor, and launch. To stow torpedoes safely for normal flight, simply turn off the constructors before launching the next volley so another pair is not loaded.

As this is an exploratory vessel, the ballistic armament was not upgraded - the torpedoes simply serving as standoff weapons to allow for longer-range engagements without putting the ship at risk, also giving space for fighters to launch.
