2024 Hunter Leveling Guide for New Players
By marc8484
Hunter is one of the most efficient and popular classes for solo leveling in Lord of the Rings Online due to its high damage, mobility, and utility. Here's a guide to help you level up quickly and efficiently as a Hunter:

Best Trait Line for Solo Leveling:
Bowmaster (Blue Line): This is your go-to for solo leveling. It's focused on ranged DPS with high burst damage, making it ideal for taking down enemies quickly before they can reach you.
Huntsman (Red Line): This line offers mobility and sustained damage, allowing you to attack while moving, which is helpful for kiting tougher enemies. It’s a solid alternative if you prefer more flexibility in combat.
Key Abilities to Focus On:
Swift Bow: A powerful multi-shot attack that hits hard and fast. Use this as your primary burst damage ability.
Barbed Arrow: Your best damage-over-time (DoT) ability. Apply it early in fights to maximize damage.
Penetrating Shot: Deals high single-target damage and ignores some armor, great for tougher enemies.
Rain of Arrows: Great for AoE situations, use this when facing multiple enemies.
Cry of the Predator: Fear beasts to control crowds or escape dangerous situations.
Quick Shot: A basic shot that slows enemies, useful for kiting and keeping distance.
Solo Leveling Strategy:
Pull from a Distance:

Always start combat from as far away as possible, using your ranged attacks to maximize your damage before the enemy can reach you.
Open with Barbed Arrow to get a DoT ticking, followed by Penetrating Shot or Swift Bow for burst damage.
Kiting:

If an enemy gets too close, use Quick Shot to slow them down and continue attacking while moving. The Huntsman trait line is especially effective for this playstyle since you can shoot on the move.
Use Traps and Decoys:

Trap: Hunters can place traps to root enemies, giving you time to deal more damage from a distance. Use them strategically when you pull larger groups or tougher mobs.
Desperate Flight: If you’re in danger, you can use this skill to teleport to safety.
Focus on Efficiency:

The Hunter class excels in single-target damage, so it’s best to focus on pulling and killing one enemy at a time rather than engaging in large group fights (except when using Rain of Arrows for AoE).
Virtues to Focus On:
Determination: Increases Agility, Vitality, and some critical ratings.
Patience: Boosts morale and critical defense, helping with survivability.
Confidence: Improves Fate, which gives you better power regen and critical ratings.
Loyalty: Adds Vitality for more health.
Empathy: Another solid defensive virtue that increases Morale and healing received.
Equipment and Stats Priorities:
Agility: As your primary stat, it increases your damage and critical chance.
Vitality: Provides additional morale (health), which is essential for surviving harder fights.
Fate: Helps with power regeneration and critical ratings.
Critical Rating: The higher your crit chance, the faster you’ll burn down enemies.
Leveling Zones and Questing Path:
To level efficiently, follow the optimal questing path through the zones designed for your level range. These zones offer plenty of quests and are designed for smooth progression:

Levels 1-15: Starting area based on your race (e.g., Bree-land, Ered Luin, or The Shire).
Levels 15-25: Bree-land, Lone-lands.
Levels 25-35: North Downs, Lone-lands, or Evendim (Evendim is a great zone for fast leveling due to quest density).
Levels 35-45: Trollshaws, Evendim, Misty Mountains.
Levels 45-50: Angmar, Forochel, Eregion.
Levels 50-60: Moria (begin questing in Moria after level 50 if you have the expansion).
Levels 60-75: Lothlórien, Mirkwood, Enedwaith.
Levels 75-85: Rohan.
Levels 85-100: Wildermore, Western Rohan, East Gondor.
Levels 100-130: Gondor, Mordor, Vales of Anduin, Minas Morgul.
Crafting for Hunters:
Woodworker: Craft your own bows and traps.
Tailor: Make your own medium armor, which is important for survivability and maximizing stats.
Scholar: Craft scrolls and potions that can boost your abilities during battle.
Skirmishes for Extra XP:
Starting at level 20, you can run Skirmishes, which are instanced battles that scale with your level. They provide extra XP, loot, and are great for solo play. Some efficient skirmishes for leveling include:
Trouble in Tuckborough
Siege of Gondamon
Thievery and Mischief
Tips for Faster Leveling:
Always have rested XP: Log out in taverns or inns to gain rested experience, which gives you double XP for a limited time.
Focus on quests: While Hunter is great at combat, completing quests quickly is your primary source of XP. Avoid grinding mobs unless necessary.
Use Swift Travel: Take advantage of the Hunter’s ability to swift travel between camps to cut down on travel time.
Summary:
Focus on the Bowmaster or Huntsman trait lines for high DPS and mobility.
Use your powerful ranged attacks to kill enemies before they reach you.
Utilize traps, crowd control, and kiting to maintain distance from enemies.
Level efficiently by following the optimal zone progression and using skirmishes for extra XP.
With your Hunter's excellent ranged damage and mobility, you'll find leveling both fast and fun!

I'm sorry to say this but there are a lot of things here which I either don't agree with or are just plain wrong. I've been playing hunter for around 5 years now and although I am also still learning and trying to get better every day, I'd not suggest this for low level players, but I appreciate the effort. Much luv :PlatonicLove:
