100% Achievements Guide + Beginner Leapers Guide [WIP] - Windblown
By AdamsIdeas (SquashMyMouse)
Hello! Welcome to my Windblown 100% Achievements Guide and Full Beginner Guide.

This guide will go over every single achievement in Windblown, any pre-requisites, and everything you need to know about them.

The guide will also delve into tips and strategies when they're necessary, to help any players who may be struggling more or need that helping hand. As well as containing beginner to advanced knowledge with as much in-depth explanation about systems as I can give!

I've also beaten Cataclysmic Difficulty, so you already know I'm incredibly cool and qualified.

I will try to be as beginner friendly as possible, and my aim is to help you achieve your goal in Windblown, whether its fully completing the game, getting every single achievement, or most importantly of all... to enjoy the game!

Please do share any feedback you may have, it doesn't just help me, but all others that may use this guide as a resource!
(I will also be adding a credits section at the bottom of the guide to thank anyone who contributes)

Note: The 'Beginner Leapers' Section is going to take me a while to get to writing down, especially with big exams coming for me soon. Firstly, i'm prioritizing getting all achievements explained, and will move on from there! I hope you understand :)

Lets get started Leapers!

Traversing the guide

All achievements are in this guide, if you're looking for a specific one/bunch of them, then do check the sidebar of tabs on the right hand side.

If you're struggling finding a specific part of the guide, be sure to use "control+F" and search for your achievement/key word. This should take you straight to where you want to be!

Now, let's truly get started!

Explorer's/Beginners Section
This section of the guide will focus on everything in Windblown, and hopefully answer any questions you may have throughout the game.

This section is currently VERY WORK IN PROGRESS. I will be updating it when i learn more about the game and more info is widely known. And will prioritize first writing about each achievement. I hope you understand :)
Unlocking Your Leaper's Main Abilities
This should be one of your first priorities when starting out Windblown. And luckily, you don't need to chase for them, as you will unlock them the further you get into a run!

Ability
How to unlock it
Alterattack
Unlocked at the start of the Factory (Biome 2)
Chained Alterattack
Unlocked at the start of the Fungal Swamp

Alterattack is a very important ability that lets you swap to your off-hand weapon after finishing a combo with the first to let out a devastating attack. These attacks, when synergized well with other weapons, can get incredibly strong.

Ability
How to unlock it
Crystallize
Unlocked in the Factory

This is a very important ability, as it allows you to 'transform weakened enemies (enemies at low health) into the three kinds of Memonites'.

These are a great way (and for some, the only way) to obtain Memonites, which are necessary to unlocking weapons, trinkets, gifts, and Magifish!

Ability
How to unlock it
Magifish

Character Upgrades (Eperin)
You will find Character upgrades at Eperin (The wolf that is directly infront of you when you load into the Ark)

He holds many upgrades that all cost Cogs.

As Cogs can feel sparse in the earlier stages of the game, here are a few upgrades to prioritize:

  • Health Flask 1, 2, 3, 4
An extremely helpful upgrade that can help your runs last longer.
  • Updrafts
Lets you navigate updrafts and unlock access to secret areas. These updrafts are found throughout the biomes behind secrets. These secret areas past the Updrafts can give you Boosts, Gifts, and Chests and are always a good idea to go for!
How to Beat Every Boss/Miniboss
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Tribomber
The Tribomber is the first mini-boss you encounter.

They're found in the Golem Gardens and the Fungal Swamp.

Tribomber's Move-set/Abilities

Tribomber has 5 main moves that they shuffle with throughout the fight.

Swipe, Swipe, Slam
A general 3 hit attack combo. The first and third attack are indicated by a flash in the Tribombers Eyes

3 Grenades
The Tribomber will shoot out 3 grenades (1 every ~1.5 seconds) that explode ~0.5s after landing.

Proximity Mines
The Tribomber will jump to the middle of the arena, and throw out 2 Rows of Proximity mines in a circle around itself.

Flurry of Stomps
The Tribomber will throw out a Flurry of Stomps in a short area around itself (Staggering itself for ~2 seconds after).

Jump
The Tribomber will do a single Jump in place

‎ ‎ ‎↪ Headbanger
Headbanger is the first Main Boss in the game.

You can encounter Headbanger in the Factory.

Headbangers's Attacks/Abilities

Headbanger has 2 Phases, the second phase expanding on it's base moves/abilities.

Phase 1 (Above 50% HP)
Headbanger has quite a few simple attacks, which on occasion are slotted into combo's.

Headbang
Headbanger is able to simply throw out a Headbang on the floor, bringing up spikes of rocks in a triangular pattern

Dash
This dash can be followed by any other attack Headbanger has and is usually a link for combos.

Jump and Slam
The Headbanger will jump into the air and slam into the floor, bringing up spikes of rocks around itself when it lands.

Laser Eyes and Flame Pylons
The Headbanger will go to the middle of the arena, where it will throw out a Pylon and start tracking you with a laser eye. The Pylon will also attack by releasing a wave of flames in a circle pattern around it.

You are able to destroy the Pylon, with both your weapons and the Headbangers laser eye by standing behind the Pylon.

Circle of Grenades
The Headbanger will go to to the middle of the arena, where it will rain grenades from the sky in a circle. After they land, they detonate after ~0.5s.

You have to dash through them at the right time to dodge them.

(Combo) Swipe, Swipe, Headbang
Headbanger will only ever swipe in this combo.

This is a similar 3 hit combo as the Tribomber, except the Headbang on the floor brings up spikes of rocks in a triangular pattern.

Phase 2 (Below 50% HP)

Phase 2 starts after the Headbanger reaches <50% health, Phase 2 will start.

In Phase 2, the Headbanger becomes faster, has a new move, and has stronger attacks.

Raining Grenades
After every one of the Headbangers attacks (except Laser Eyes and Flame Pylons), the Headbanger will now rain down 4 grenades at your last position. You must simply dash or run away from these to avoid them.

Triple Dash
The Headbanger will now be able to Triple Dash towards you.

You avoid is similarly to the regular dash, although keep in mind that the Headbanger is now faster, and Raining Grenades at you after every dash.

Double Flame Pylons
Exact same as the previous phase, except the Headbanger will now throw out 2 Flame Pylons at once.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Head
Head will only appear as a miniboss if you do NOT kill the Head at the end of Headbanger's boss fight. Head will replace the Pirate Protector
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Pirate Protector
Pirate Protector will be the miniboss at the end of Rat Village as long as the Head at the end of Headbangers boss fight is killed before it runs away!
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Navelless Brothers
Achievements Section
This section will solely focus on the Achievements of Windblown.

Spoiler Warning

Please do understand that there will be spoilers beyond this point for anything in Windblown. Be sure to navigate on the Tabs on the right-hand side if you want to avoid certain spoilers.

Any big story spoilers will be labelled again before-hand.
"Reach ___" Achievements
Currently in Windblown, there are 5 biomes to reach and explore.

All, apart from the first area, will grant you their respective achievement when you reach the area for the first time.

I'll be writing out the achievements in general order of completion.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Factory
-Factory: "Reach the Factory for the first time"

  • Unlocked by Default.

You arrive here after making your way through the Golem Gardens or Fungal Swamp.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Rat Village
-Rat Village: "Reach the Rat Village for the first time"

  • Unlocked by Default.

You arrive here after making your way through the Golem Gardens or Fungal Swamp and the Factory.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Fungal Swamp
-Fungal Swamp: "Reach the Fungal Swamp for the first time"

  • Unlocked after beating an enemy at the start of the Rat Village. This enemy will drop the Wind Map.

Fungal Swamp can be accessed by the Expedition Cannon and is a secondary option to the Golem Gardens.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Incubator
-Incubator: "Reach the Incubator for the first time"

  • Unlocked by Default.

You arrive here after making your way through the Golem Gardens or Fungal Swamp, the Factory and the Rat Village.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Endless Adept
-Endless Adept: "Finish an Endless Mode loop"

Very self explanatory, you must finish an endless loop in the endless mode.

This means defeating the final boss and restarting the loop.

"Rescue ___" Achievements
Through your journey, you'll encounter characters that require rescuing throughout your expeditions.

This sub-section will focus on these scenarios, and where you may encounter and how to rescue them.
‎ ‎ ‎↪ FREND-43V3R
Instead of Rescuing FREND-43V3R, you're tasked at the very beginning of the game to repair him.

This is very simply done by finding his missing part in the Golem Gardens (Biome 1) in the Vortex. And is most likely done on your very first few runs.

FREND-43V3R is found to the left of the cannon that shoots you into the vortex, standing next to Cuprik.

-FREND-43V3R: "Repair FREND-43V3R"
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Pietro (Unlocks Multiplayer)
Pietro is found in the first Biome of the Vortex, the Golem Gardens.

You'll find him relatively quickly, if not on one of your first runs.

Once you find him, make sure you speak with him.
Pietro will ask you to *give him a good knock on the head*
Simply follow what he says, and he will be taken back to the Ark by the rescue fish.

He will then return to the Ark, where you can converse with him where he will allow you to enter the Vortex with other Leapers!

-Pietro: "Rescue Pietro during an expedition"
‎ ‎ ‎↪ Sigourney
You'll find Sigourney in the Factory (Biome 2).

When you find him, you'll see that he is being attacked by 3 enemies (name unknown as of now :P). You must kill all 3 enemies to save Sigourney. Once having done so, he will have some dialogue before fainting and taken away by the rescue fish. Right after he's taken away, your achievement will pop up.

Once you head back to the Ark, a cutscene will happen explaining how Sigourney was there studying the vortex. After some dialogue, we find that he will camp out to study the Ark and why it's not being pulled by the Vortex.

-Sigourney: "Rescue Sigourney during an expedition"
"Defeat ___" Achievements
The "Defeat" Achievements are relatively self explanatory, however, some require specific conditions to get the achievement.

Those will be named, and explained separately underneath this sub-section.

From what I can currently tell, none of the bosses/mini bosses have any differences in behavior or moves the higher difficulty you go.

Each miniboss will have its own dedicated section near the top of the guide. Their respective sections will go over their moves (hopefully along with gifs/videos to go along with them), how to play against them, and ultimately how to defeat them.

Aswell as any other achievements that may get added along side their bosses later on

-Tribomber: "Defeat the Tribomber miniboss" -Headbanger: "Defeat the Headbanger" -Head: "Defeat the Head miniboss" -Pirate Protector "Defeat the Pirate Protector miniboss" -Navelless Brothers: "Defeat the Navelless Brothers"
‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎↪ Off with its head!
"Unlock ___" Achievements
‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎↪ Alterattack
-Alterattack: "Unlock Alterattack"

Alterattack is unlocked at the start of the Factory.

Alterattack Upgrades
Alterattack also has 2 upgrades, Chained Alterattack and Extra Chained Alterattack

Chained Alterattack
Chained Alterattack is unlocked at the start of Fungal Swamp

Extra Chained Alterattack
Extra Chained Alterattack is unlocked at
‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎↪ Gear Adept
-Gear Adept: "Unlock 10 Weapons or Trinkets"

Very self-explanatory, simply unlock 10 Weapons or Trinkets from FREND-43V3R

‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎↪ Gift Adept
-Gift Adept: "Unlock 30 Gifts"

Gift Adept is currently bugged. People have reported that they unlocked this achievement at 70 Gifts. I personally unlocked it at 76 Gifts. So keep on going! I'll update this when it's fixed.

Gift Adept refers to the Gifts that can be bought at FREND-43V3R for memonites.

You obtain these purchasable Gifts either by default, encrypted memories that drop from enemies, or finding them through secrets.

For more information about each Gift, go over to the Wiki[windblown.wiki.gg]. Information about each Gift, what they do, and how to obtain them are there!
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎↪ All Hidden Gifts
This section covers Gifts that require special conditions to unlock, separate from those unlocked by default or through Encrypted Memories.

Even though they have different requirements, they still must be bought at FREND-43V3R

Lucky Boosts
Thanks to Syrio's original guide about bringing this to my attention! Head to their guide for a picture by picture walkthrough.

Prerequisite -
You must have the 'Lifeline' upgrade from Eperin. It costs 300 Cogs.

Text Walkthrough:
  1. From FREND-43V3R and Cuprik, walk to the vegetable patch to their right.
  2. From the Vegetable Patch, follow the islands down in that direction until you reach the waterfall.
  3. Dash through the waterfall, follow the path down and find the well.
  4. Go down this well (this is what requires the 'Lifeline' upgrade from Eperin).
  5. Claim the Lucky Boosts gift!

Hey! Dont worry, the guide will be updated with all the new stuff. It's just currently very difficult for me to find any spare time! My final exams start in just a few days and will be over the next 2 months ish so will be hard to find any time for the guide with studying and life. If i do, I'll be sure to update :)

Thank you everyone!

I got Gift Adept at 83 gifts purchased from FREND-43V3R, so seconding that it can indeed happen - it just takes a lot more than the description says right now.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents for anyone who is struggling to get the Gift Adept achievement. Just got mine at 84, so it really can happen, just gotta keep chugging along! Good luck, and good hunting!

Hey Elijah! not to worry. So, dodging is done by Dashing into/away from enemies as they attack. You have to time it just right!

Your dash button I think is 'A', but it might be 'B' on your steamdeck, the tutorial at the start or controls tab in the options menu should tell you :)

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else. I'll keep working on the guide! I'm going to try get some more Gifs done and boss/miniboss movesets done today. I'm not sure how in-depth im going to go for the beginner/weapons section. Will have to see how much time it sets me back :)

Thanks for your kind words and have a great day/night! :HappyShade:

Thank you so much for your reply, I've currently unlocked almost 50 gifts (my friends did the same since we're playing together) and we still didn't get the achievement. I hope they'll fix it soon!
