Level Grinding Setup (That I've been using)
By Derpknight94
This setup gets me 200XP per battle and for every 5 battles I get a level.

Settings
10 Stocks/Lives
20 Minute Time Limit
3 CPU opponents (I use Level 1 for ease)

What I do
I play whatever stage I get on random and whatever character I want to level up (for money, skins, achievement or icons) and that is the long and the short of it. I haven't tested if CPU level matters or if more stocks/lives means more XP but if you wanna play around you can.

Final Word
Hope this helps you get that character skin/icons, achievements or money you want.

The lowest count time I put in is 3. So for efficiency, 4-6 minutes seem to be the sweet spot.

3 lvl 9 cpu on a team against you with team attack off (orcane ranno and forsburn work well since they all have weak moves that will stop other moves from koing you and let you survive taking hits for longer), just hold down on your controller to cc and get off respawn platforms 4 minutes for 200 use 3 minutes to not lose out on exp not earned, bigger stages work better heavier stages work better, if you actively play you can easily get 200 exp at 3 minutes by just using down tilt at optimal times and taking the death intentionally when your % is too high. This was a fun problem to try to optimize for both active and passive exp gain. As stated actively playing yields better returns but I find it much more fun to actually play the game online and it's a better learning experience to actually figure out how to play each character

8 minute, infinite stocks gives the max 200 exp, ive tested longer and it doesnt matter. It gives EXP by time.
