How to move forwards and backwards.
♦ Moving Forward and Backward
• Press W to move forward and S to move backward.
• Moving forward is your primary way to advance across the map, while moving backward lets you back away from danger. For example, backpedaling while firing can help you avoid getting too close to an enemy Heavy or Pyro.
How to move left and right.
♦ Moving Left and Right
• Press A to move left and D to move right.
• Use these to strafe (side-step) to dodge enemy attacks without turning away from them. Strafing is especially useful in combat, letting you keep aim on your opponent while making it harder for them to hit you.
Jumping.
♦ Jumping
• Press Spacebar to jump.
• Jumping is helpful for getting over small obstacles and avoiding ground-level hazards. Use jumps to reach higher spots or dodge incoming fire. You can also crouch-jump by pressing CTRL while jumping to get a slight height boost, letting you reach ledges or platforms that a regular jump wouldn’t.
Crouching.
♦ Crouching
• Press CTRL to crouch.
• Crouching makes you a smaller target and is helpful for hiding behind low cover. Crouching while moving slowly can keep you hidden from enemy lines until you’re ready to act.
Combining moves.
♦ Combining Moves
• Mix up your movement with jumps, strafes, and crouches to stay unpredictable.
• Try jumping while strafing or crouching just before landing from a jump to keep enemies guessing. Combining these movements can make you a harder target to hit and help you survive longer.
