Expert mode guide (W.I.P)
By Apollyon
Was struggling a bit with expert mode so I thought I'd dump what knowledge I have on certain characters to help some of you out! First guide I've written so this might be a little rough bear with me lol.

Im only writing about characters I've beaten expert with so if a character is missing I haven't done it yet. Feel free to drop your advice in the comments and I'll add it in.

General tips
- With really big sword completing the gold coin slots arent really important so dont worry about it
- That being said you still want to do the normal strat of rolling until dungeon master appears to put color dice in your dice bag
- I havent done any math but I believe 6 (for large totals and exact slots) 3 (exact slots) and 1 (exact slots / below X slots) are the most important dice to keep in your dice bag, So when I'm deciding what to keep for next round I go for any combo of the 3.

Joker
[Joker]
Items: Cosmic petal (+1 Dice roll), Really big sword (Double silver coins), Your choice for 3rd item (I went with + epic companion)

- Jokers skill (randomize an exact slot at the cost of an odd dice) is pretty trash imo unless your in a situation where you have everything BUT the exact slot dice of an enemy (Which is more common than you think)
- Overall I don't think theres anyway to increase your odds of winning with any tactics other than just get good shop rng.
Missionary
[Missionary]
Items: Love in a bottle (Companion always attacked) Wine bottle (Double companion HP) Really big sword (Double silver coins)
Recommended items: Heal on companion hit

- For 3x 1 pip dice can summon a common companion
- Strat for missionary is same as plague doctor where you spam summon companions to tank heavy attacks while you take out enemies. 3x 1 pip dice is cheaper than Hydra but still pretty expensive considering 1 pips are pretty useful. Keep an eye out for the free companions as well so you dont summon one right before you get one for free etc
Savant
Items: Cosmic petal (+1 roll) Really big sword (Double coin drops) Stone heart (Double shield)
- Good luck
Plague doctor
[Plague doctor]
Items: Love in a bottle (always attack companion) Cosmic petal (+1 roll) Really big sword (Double coin drops)
Recommended shop items: Heal on companion hit, and anything that gives you hero ability.

- Plague doctors ability is to summon a 1hp rat for a 2 pip dice that can 1 shot a random enemy for 2x any dice.
- So incredible offense against big enemies with high total hp but also some decent defense. I don't know if this is a bug / exploit but if you summon a rat vs 4 enemies even though it dies on the first hit it will still tank at least 3 enemies (4th will still hit you) So assuming you have a full dice bag a turn would go like: Roll dice > kill any easy enemies with 2-3 dice > summon rat to tank anyone left or use ability to kill. Probably one of the easier experts overall so a good start lol

Hydra
[Hydra]
Items: Wine bottle (Double companion hp) Cosmic petal (+1 roll) Really big sword (Double coin drops)
Recommended items: Heal on companion hit, hammer (idk the name but the item that makes dice get +1 or +2 on total slots)

- For 3 x 10 total dice Hydra can summon a companion with hp based on your soul count and the ability to draw all attention to it for 3 x any dice.
- A big problem is A) getting soul is hard and B) the enemies in expert hit for crazy damage. Unlike plague doctor below hydras companion is also expensive so you cant spam summon it. The solution is wine bottle which doubles the hp of hydra companion WHEN YOU SUMMON IT, so it DOES NOT double heal, if your companion is low on hp let it die and summon a new one.
- The hard part of this run like many others is doing damage. Not much you can do other than getting good shop rng.

I used Gaiseric's strategy for Warlord and Warlock, and I can confirm it works wonders. I also added on Miniature Planet to help with the early game. You could also add Song of the Dead, but I think it is more important to have that initial 15 early since once you're at max soul you're basically set.

I believe I buffed Wizard's health with Artificial Leech, and used an epic companion. That gives him survivability to grind out gold dice sets early on. It may be possible to substitute one or the other to have both the Cosmic Petal and the Really Big Sword, to make the end-game easier instead; probably the leech since a companion has extra functionality.

For Warrior, I believe I used Cosmic petal (+1 roll), Really big sword (Double coin drops) and Stone heart (Double shield). The skill is more reliable than Savant's and easier to trigger.

I'm not sure if it was even a good idea, but for Craftsman, I used Ouroboros Bracelet, Chrono Medallion and possibly there was even an Artist companion. The idea was to scale at an absurd pace, but the early game may be difficult.

I disagree with Galseric about "any" character that uses Souls. Sometimes the Mysterious Object (Soul skills require 1 less Soul) is superior.

For Warlock, I believe I used Mysterious Object, Song Of The Dead and Really Big Sword.

For Vampire, I can't remember the other trinkets, but Mysterious Object halves the soul cost of the hero ability.

Shapeshifter has a possible glitch that if her Complete all slots ability is used in conjunction with a companion whose skill slot would normally get locked after defeating the enemies, the skill slot doesn't get locked. For instance the Gambler is very powerful for after-the-battle rolls.

I believe I used Old King's Ashes to pad Blood Mage's health so her ability was useful for a good bit while she was gaining momentum in other ways.

For any character that uses Souls: equip Shadow Tentacle (reduces damage by 1 per 20 souls, min 1 damage) and Wilted White Rose (heals 1 per 5 souls at the end of each fight). Just don't spend your Souls--and watch out for the enemy that reduces Souls by half.
