two ai modes
There are two ai modes:

ai helper - works automatically on your fields

ai gps - automatic steering within the set parameters

there are two more ai supported actions (set target and create job) which are set up on the map screen, but which we will not consider here.

ai worker
In order to tell your ai where to begin, you have to open the setup menu, default by holding H

This window has plenty of options, which we will go over step by step.

Very important - you have to STAND ON THE FIELD you want to work on - or you will get the error messsage "no field found". This also applies if you try to sow but the field is not prepared for sowing (aka not yet ploughed or harrowed). Also make sure you are in the right season for your crop (look at the calendar).

Do not touch the "working width" setting - its the automatic width of your equipped tool.

Most important one is to tell the ai where to begin with the work. Default is "up / down", so it begins in the middle of a field and does the headlands in the end.

There is an option to turn headlands off, but it isnt recommended for default. You may use this if there is a field with a very complicated shape, to plow the outlines yourself, but let the ai do the rest.

You have the option to skip lines, this can be used if you want multiple ai working on the same field (i.e. very large fields).

When setup correctly simply press H to start your ai worker.

Thats all for ai workers .. now onto the steering assist..
steering assist
The steering assist needs your input at the begin and the end of a line, but greatly improves your efficiency. Its the middle ground between i "have to pay" for ai but i want straight lines. So it doesnt cost you any money to use this mode.

There are also accustic indicators if you use the gps mode. Sucessful activating a guidline plays a short double beep. Approaching the end of a line plays a slow double beep and leaving the line plays four fast beeps.

Like in the ai worker settings - do not touch the "working width" settings - its the default size for your equipped tool.

You can adjust the amount of headlands here:

The working direction determines in which direction you should follow the guidelines:

The offset is usefull if you want to correct wrong lines or if you want to work parallel to another ai worker (use line skip there too). As the name says - it sets off your current line by a certain amount.

The option "show lines" is self explaining, it makes your ai guidlines visible or not. You can still see the status on your hud in the bottom right corner.

Thats it for this windows .. here is a quick sheet for your gps setup ..
