Better Ammo Limits

Description
Better Ammo Limits

A quick and dirty edit to Half-Life 2's base weapon limits. MOSTLY inspired by real life stuff. No changes to base damage.

The Changes

Pistol (fake USP Match)
Reduced total count to from 18 + 150 to 15 + 100.

Our favorite peashooter has too much ammo that you don't need. No, the total count doesn't divide correctly, and no, I'm not changing that.

Revolver (Colt Python-Anaconda thingy)
Buffed total count from 6 + 12 to 6 + 24.

Only 12 on the spare. Really Valve?

SMG1 (MP7 Prototype 2):
Reduced total count from 45 + 225 to 40 + 200.
Buffed grenade count from 3 to 5.

More based on the real MP7 prototype. Also more 'nades.

AR2
Buffed total count from 30 + 60 to 30 + 120.

60 rounds on the spare? Really Valve?

Shotgun (SPAS-12 with pistol grip only)
Buffed total count from 6 + 30 to 8 + 40.

It's no 8 + 128 like in HL1, but it works.

Crossbow
Buffed total count from 1 + 10 to 1 + 15.

Yeah.

RPG
Buffed total count from 3 to 5.

No more hogging the RPG ammo crate.

Other Weapons
No other weapons have been changed as I felt they are balanced enough for HL2.

Works for every version of the game.

Getting it to work!

Due to the strange nature of how HL2 loads scripts and cfg files (I don't think Valve knows it either?), you need to do the following to make it work.

Step 1. Subscribe to the mod, let it download.

Step 2. Click in the Manage icon or right click the game and go to Properties.
In the Workshop tab, drag the mod to be at the very top of the list.
Close the window and start the game.

Step 3. In the Workshop option in game, also move the game to be the very top of the list.

Step 4. Pick one of the games that you're not currently in. If you're in HL2, pick EP1 or EP2, and so on.
Load a save, start new game or load a map directly using the console and if you have weapons, check ammo counts.
Return to main menu then load the game you want to play or select a Workshop Campaign. It should work after that.

NOTE: You should do Step 4 after getting new mods, since it resets for some reason. Any mods qualify to break how it loads.

Alternatively you can download the mod via Crowbar, and place it in your hl2/custom folder so it'll always load no matter what.

Stuff no one cares about

This mod changes the following files:

cfg/skill.cfg
scripts/weapon_pistol.txt
scripts/weapon_shotgun.txt
scripts/weapon_smg1.txt

Any files that changes these will be incompatible as well.

This means any difficulty mods and weapon mods that change ammo counts since they modify those scripts as well. Replacements-only mods like the EZ2 Animations or Project HL2 should work.

i dont know why but in episode 2 the ammo mags where the original amount (for exaple: shotgun has only 6 shots in his tube , the smg has 45 rounds in his mag and the pistol has 18 rounds in his mag) but the reserve ammo has the changed amount (for example i can hold 24 magnum rounds , 120 pulse ammo , 5 rockets and 15 crossbow rounds)

For anybody who pulled their hair out tryna get this to work with MMOD like me you have to go to steamapps/workshop/conent/220/3366867453 copy those vpk files and paste them into the custom folder of whichever MMOD game you wanna run

Edit these two:

cfg/skill.cfg
scripts/weapon_smg1.txt

and put them into a hl2/custom folder
