Description
*UPDATE: Expanded Apartments* Introducing, Spartanovka, a Tripwire classic brought to Easy Red 2! This map is a faithful and inspired recreation of the Red Orchestra 2 cult classic. Some areas aim to be directly from the original map, while other areas are to be expanded upon. Eventually the rest of the village surrounding the main battlegrounds will be detailed with defences allowing for a complete re-imagining of the battle of Spartanovka!

This map is based on an a real life action between the XIV Panzer Corps of the German Sixth Army and the 124th Rifle Brigade of the Soviet 62nd Army. This costly battle occurred on the 31st of August 1942, well into the hellstorm of Stalingrad. The die has been cast and it is only a matter of time before the hammer make's little mark on the anvil...
Spartanovka cost the Germans dearly and I hope anyone who uses this map for any missions to really make them seriously bloody.

My rendition of the iconic village aims to be faithful to the original, but also expand on it with a multitude of updates. I have chosen a relatively small map size to keep things simple. Do not get me wrong, that in no way means this map is at all small! The scale of the battle-space is larger and I believe slightly more realistic. There is more open distance to travel on the run up to the church, so planning and utilization of support is crucial. Further updates will flesh out the surrounding village blocks so that possibilities within the battle are endless.

The epicenter of the battle though will remain largely faithful to the original map and this can be seen; fences, trenches, foxholes, tank corpses, burnt houses, explosion craters, and more were placed by hand with help of reference photos I took within Red Orchestra 2. I got creative and slightly increased the size of certain props and buildings in order to match the feel of the original. Some Soviet houses were too small so I have taken liberties to create a longer one ( most intact houses can be entered, though some will have clipping. In RO2 you could not enter any building in the map besides the church and the Town Hall so this I see is a great leap in technology! I recommend using a LUT that is dull and neutral with very little-to-no vignette in order to more visually resemble RO2s color pallet.

This is my very first map creation ever so suggestions and comments are desperately wanted! I believe this map will be a true mind blow to anyone who is a fan of my previous works. I am very active playing maps and missions from the community and was on the lookout for a longtime for an Eastern Front map which had real immersion power and bravado of this kind. I wanted raw combat with smoke and fire and mud. Spartanovka delivers this experience.

!Each update as of 11/19/2024 will introduce expanses of defenses for use by mission makers and myself!

oh yeah. i think i did use that church at some point, originally the AI would not take cover inside, but i spawned them inside and it worked out

@NETSCAPE , I used two of the vanilla churches with their front doors facing together. I forgot which ones exactly, but it should be quick to find the two when comparing it to my screenshots! I scaled the churches up and then had to sink one down considerably. The interior part with park benches and crates is also mission editor work.:thestar:

Did you yank the church model from RO2? I can't seem to find a decent eastern church that is vanilla.

All floatings fixed, started on the expanded works of the village for use by mission makers and myself. Any requests for building strongpoint ideas please feel free to ask! New addition is a factory which has been fortified with a trench line and many foxholes dug hastily by the defenders.

@Ryangames21 Thank you very much! Planning on remaking something that is in both Ostfront '41 and RO2... which maybe includes assaulting a trench complex before making a push on a railway station.

Issue was two wagon wheels included in a now deleted mod. Map should download fine. If not then screw me. I swear I only placed two of those damned wheels.
