Introduction
Welcome to this WIP guide on a majority of subjects in D.o.D (currently 1.2.3)

Since this a very early version of this guide there may be errors! Please show where there might be errors if you find them and notify in the comments, thank you! I will change and update this as often as I can with new updates and as I learn more myself.

Eventually I will also include other mechanics in the game such as nesting, mutation points and more, these are some of the future plans however these will be possibly what take the longest. This will happen over time, especially nesting with the complications the 1.2 update brought and so on. Mutation points can effect so many little things that finding all the combinations let alone testing everything is nearly impossible by myself (which I currently am ofc). And to combine all stages of eldering adults, juveniles and hatchings properly is not going to happen, so all stat testing is done on all E elder dragons on the official greybox map, and mind you it is all as approximate as I can get it, it is not perfect by say 0.01 or so km/h or just a second or two, but is hopefully very close. Same goes for average flight as that is how fast you need to go to stay relatively going in a straight line, therefore including some usage of your stamina to stay in the air, making it more reasonable for travel which is not always gliding. Nesting is a whole other nightmare which will be left alone for quite a while, otherwise some more topics are simply the playable dragons themselves and the world around you.

Currently the eldering system is pretty much fully in place and the basic skins and patron, kickstarter and CC pearls. The agile/fast mutation point line is in the works when it comes down to speeds and stamina of flight and ground maneuverability.

And afterwards there will be more to come over time, please be patient, I hope this is as useful to you as it has been to me.
Eldering
Each dragon class has a different progress amount per "tick". Some dragons such as the bio don't even elder at all, as all class 2 and class 1 creatures will not experience eldering most likely.

Behemoths: an estimated slow growth to elder at about 8 hours, this may be changed however and is not in game quite yet.

Class 7+: Unknown (Possibly around 0.25%)

Class 6: 0.55% per tick

Class 5: 0.909% per tick (the IR has some broken things with its ticks and therefore hits 99.9% at the end and requires extra crystals before hitting the next one.)

Class 4: either 1.3% or 1.25% as the bs and ss have a small difference in eldering.

Class 3: around 2.1%

Class 2-1: Non-Eldering

Crystal Activation:

1. Searching for crystals is your first go to, its best to memorize land marks and make routes and pathways from each crystal to get the quickest finds (Its best to know what each crystal looks like even with the compass now available).

2. If a crystal is not active, it will be a dull grayish blue-purple color. These aren't usable and checking them usually doesn't matter due to compass.

3. With the compass available, PvE servers will call out the crystal on compass and when the first person arrives they will say the name of the location.

4. Activating a crystal is called "popping" the crystal, this happens after several dragons use the 1 call with aim repeatably (the aim has to be white) until the color fades and a disk of energy "pops", you must be in this circle while the crystal is activating to get the tick along with the restraints in the following sections of the guide.

5. Please, please wait for everyone! The group at the crystal will wait for everyone unless time is running out, don't pop it early. Its better for everyone to get their tick and you have time to get it even if you have to log out. If the crystal will pop soon and you have to leave, hard log and your dragon will stay there for 5 minutes, more then enough time to get the tick.

Elder Compass:

The elder compass is an addition from the release of 1.2, it will tell you on your compass (access it in "I" key and it will be at the top of your screen or if it is in static it will stay above you at all times).

This new addition makes it so entire servers (mainly PvE and DvE) can work as one since the crystals aren't exactly hidden.

When a crystal appears it will be found on the compass, however as it does indeed show the color, it only will show you crystals for your current dragon's required crystal. For example, a BW at night would only see their white crystals when they appeared. Also, say at day a 20% IR would only see their requirement of cyans.

Crystals for ASD
(will update as more information comes):

There are several crystals asd have no access too or have an extremely hard time using, the hard to use ones are as following:
Arch Cave: This is one of the three crystals at Arch, as an asd you either must jump repeatedly to gain the pop or attempt to get on the ledge, at least one asd must do this for greens at that location. Its better if you get three or more due to the difficulty of activating it from the ledge.

Falls (Bottom): You must jump from above falls too reach the crystal; you won't die as damage can never truly kill you but its still hard to do.

Falls (Top): Falls top require asd testing to see if it works, otherwise even in it's current placement it seem impossible/tricky.

Any location in EF: Extremely far distances.

Bacon & Big Snowy: Extremely rugged terrain and distance, Big snowy's elevation is also hard to reach

Small Snowy: Possible but hard to reach.

Lime: The distance and the mountain don't help.

River Falls: Simply annoying to locate as an asd without someone at the crystal
Impossible to reach for asd:

Ramp: Too high

Arch Ledge: On a ledge

Bio: On a ledge (There is a way apparently, however I haven't seen this personally so unless confirmed this stays impossible)

River Wall: On a ledge (might be possible?)

Ravine: You can get in but its impossible to get out and admins won't help you usually, it has been tested, please, don't try it.

Crystal Colors

There are seven different colors of crystal that may appear on the crystals at any given time, however there happens to be only 1-4 on the map at a time, most commonly it may appear there are none active-this *can* be caused by randoms (players who search for crystals outside of elder group) popping or (correct me if I'm wrong!) in my experience no crystals can activate in succession if multiple are popped close to each other which can happen when say maybe four appear in a row yet thirty minutes after there are none to be found.

Crystals are as followed:
  • Green

  • Cyan

  • Blue

  • Magenta "Mag"

  • Red

  • Yellow

  • White

Day Crystals act differently then Night Crystals, meaning knowing the time is *very* important, especially when its night close to dawn or dusk close to night because if you wait too long your chance is gone.

Day Crystals are triggered by current elder percent (%) and go as followed:

    • Green: [0-15%]

    • Cyan: [15-30%]

    • Blue: [30-45%]

    • Magenta: [45-60%]

    • Red: [60-75%]

    • Yellow: [75-100%]

    • White: [Everyone/0-100%]

Night Crystals are triggered by your dragon's bile type and go as followed:

    • Green: [Acid]

    • Cyan: [Frost *Currently not in game and therefore useless*]

    • Blue: [Plasma]

    • Magenta: [Electricity/Lightning]

    • Red: [Fire]

    • Yellow: [Venom *Currently not in game and therefore useless*]

    • White: [None/Unique]

Day and Night (Correct me if I'm wrong) are each 1 hour and 40 minutes
-Note Dawn/Dusk count as DAY not night!

Playables (WIP)
Currently in game there are 7 playables, with two DLC, one Kickstarter and one quest one. However you can get all dragons through nesting, you will not be able to respawn as it if you do not have it as a spawnable however. You however have immediate access to Flame Stalker, Shadow Scale and Inferno Ravager.

The following growth times can be affected by the 50% and 25% growth boosts under the right conditions, these growth times are the base known growth times. To get the growth boosts however you have to be beneath 20% hunger and thirst with no sickness, meaning it makes you avoid the mushrooms for your growth. 50% boost is for hatchlings and 25% boost is for juveniles.

And almost all dragons have a basic frontal bite attack with the base key-bind being LMB. All key-binds show are the base settings.

Flame Stalker "FS":

Class: 5
Growth Time: 3 hours
Special ability [Q]: Heat Vison (Able to see heat from creatures)
Unique Mechanics: Heat Vison increases crit chance.
Attacks:

Shadow Scale "SS":

Class: 4
Growth Time: 2 hours
Special ability [Q]: Shadow Cloak (Semi-invisibility)
Unique Mechanics: Charging plasma blasts for more damage (drains bile and takes a while to fill back up again however)
Attacks:

Acid Spitter Drake "ASD":

Class: 3
Growth Time: 1 hour
Special ability [Q]: Decaying bite (Drains stamina and health over time, has four levels)
Unique Mechanics: Sprinting (Ctrl then run to engage) and semi aquatic (able to go up and down in water)
Attacks:

Inferno Ravager "IR":

Class: 5
Growth Time: 3 hours
Special ability [Q]: Inferno (Turns into a flying fireball)
Unique Mechanics: Inferno heals bleed and levels of acid decay. Also lessens damage from inccoming attacks.
Attacks:

Biolumin Dragon "BIO":

Class: 2
Growth Time: 1 hour
Special ability [Q]: Glow
Unique Mechanics: Agile Hover and sprinting (ctrl then run to engage)
Attacks: None

Blitz Striker "BS":

Class: 4
Growth Time: 2 hours
Special ability [Q]: Electric Cloak (Able to stun close enemy's and cause them to fall out of the sky)
Unique Mechanics: Stationary Hover and storm summoning (one call in a group when able to)
Attacks:

Brood Watcher "BW":

Class: 6
Growth Time: 4 hours
Special ability [Q]: Throat Pouch (Able to transfer eggs and incubate them for better stats)
Unique Mechanics: Tail spikes stay in opponents when shot for a while, also knocks them out of the air.
Attacks:
AI and Food Sources
There are a few AI and a plant food source for the Brood Watcher along with unique flowers for Bio. Note that a majority of these will not be found around and in the snowy mountains, so don't go there unless you don't need food for a while. Even then, on Brood Watcher don't stay long.

Herbivore and Nectarivore Plants

Berry Bushes: These are a food source for the Brood Watcher currently and may also feed future herbivorous dragons in the future. These are small easily differentiable bushes with small berries on them, they often are found in open areas and in clusters.

Bio Flowers: These flowers are about as tall as an asd, with three upper flowers and four lower flowers. These can be found most commonly in areas with ponds, most ponds have at least one or two bio flowers. Hovering to the top flowers gives you the most amount of food faster and should be your priority. However when those run out or you are still a hatching bio, you can use the bottom ones which take longer for less food received. There is also however the issue with a known bug on bio, this most likely happens with some kind of agile point (which one is uncertain) and will reset your stamina after eating a flower the replenishes your stamina past 100%.

Poisonous mushrooms: These are red capped mushrooms that you can find scattered around the map and mostly by water sources. These mushrooms give hatchlings a lot of food however they do not allow the extra 50% growth boost by giving sickness (sleep to heal off). Only the Brood Watcher can eat them without receiving sickness, however it does not work for very long as once you hit juvinile you stop receiving a good amount of food for every mushroom (you get 1% and that's not worth it for how quickly Brood Watcher gets hungry)

AI creatures

Scrabs: These are small crab-bug things that can be found scattered across the map, and are the most reliable source of food. There is the small issue of them being quite deadly to fresh spawn hatchlings though, so the best hunting technique known right now is to run around and through the scrab while biting it when you make contact. Another tip that has worked for me is to bait it into attempting an attack and then run through it with your bites to avoid being hit while attacking. These feed the average adult fs and ir one "bite" (animation of eating) to eat while adult SS, bs and asd need two. Elder fs, ir, ss and bs only eat one bite and elder asd still has two.

Swamp Snappers: Welcome the crocodile of Day of Dragons, these rather easy to deal with then what was expected AI are found in medium sized bodies of murky water, and therefore make them a rare sight in clear water such as the lake where Bio Island is. They also are not found in small ponds. There is also the chance of a larger white snapper spawning, these are boss or elder snappers and have a 5% chance to drop a snowslayer or sandslayer pearl, these are also explained in the previous mention of them in the Skins tab. The snappers however do not give much food. The average snapper can feed an elder flame stalker or inferno ravager only two bites even if it has a scavenger mutation. Otherwise without the corpse it's just one bite for them. Other dragons get a bit more but not much.

Skins
There are several different skins available, each dragon has the following including skins purchased via patreon:
  • Iconic (unique to each, basic spawnable)

  • Crimson "Crim" (Patreon)

  • Leumelan "Leum" (Patreon)

  • Leucelan "Leuc" (Patreon)

  • Gold "Cheese" (Patreon)

  • Melanistic "Mela" (Unlockable/Kickstarter)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spawnables

Iconic is the default skin for each dragon and therefore unique to each species:
  • Flame Stalker: Red with subtle stripes and yellow markings on the edge of their wings

  • Shadow Scale: Slightly deeper sky blue

  • Acid Spiter Drake: Dulled out green with orange webbing

  • Inferno Ravager: Brownish with a hint of orange and a paler underside

  • Biolumin: Bright blue with some yellow and darker markings

  • Blitz Striker: Dark blue-gray with almost white squiggle like stripes

  • Brood Watcher: Moss-brown mostly

Some dragons have "Rare Spawns" or simply another skin they can spawn as on occasion using the "Randon Skin" setting when spawning in, however, not every species has this. Here are the dragons who do have a rare skin:

Flame Stalker:
-Rare Spawn: Lava Rock: Dark gray with small slighter stripes and has streaks of deep fiery orange

Inferno Ravager:
-Rare Spawn: Ember Dawn: Brighter brown with orange, black and white markings

Biolumin:
-Rare Spawn: Mythic: Dark gray, almost black with purple markings

Brood Watcher:
-Rare Spawn: Albino: White with yellowish markings

Unlockables

For now, the only unlockable skin we have and have information on is the melanistic (black) skin. This skin is obtainable by growing a dragon from a nest to adult without logging out (some say that you have to be iconic for it to work but I haven't seen this proven). This is easiest being spawned in as an asd with their slightly over an hour growth time or going to the biolumin npc nest and getting an egg from there and growing it to adult since it still counts as a "nested" in iconic dragon. You can also spawn as mela in any server without the unlockable by being a kickstarter.

Patreon

There are currently four patreon paid skins:

  • Crimson: Red with some black markings

  • Leumelan: Gray with purple eyes

  • Leucelan: White with blue eyes

  • Gold "Cheese": Yellow

Along with patreon there are some cosmetic pearls included along with content creator and kickstarter based pearls:

Gold Pearl: Adds a full metallic gold over layer to Iconic, Gold "Cheese", and Rare Spawns. On Mela, Leuc and Crimson with will add gold markings and a slightly different shade of the same color to the skin under the pearl. Leumelan will turn into a metallic silver. Doesn't stack with Snow/SandSlayer pearls (more about that later)

Shimmer: Adds a rainbow shimmer over any skin, doesn't stack with Snow/SandSlayer pearls. Given to kickstarters.

Content Creator: Given to Content Creators and to players during events. A glowing fully covering blue glowing skin with a vein-ish texture. This is an amazing pearl to have, however it is a straight up beacon in PvP and you stick out like a sore eye, if you have it, best to put it away unless it doesn't matter to you too much.

Slayer Pearls

The SnowSlayer and SandSlayer pearls are a cosmetic overlay that can be put on over your normal skin and are gained by killing a white/boss snapper with a 5% drop rate (50/50 for either pearl) which are explained further in the AI section.

SnowSlayer: White base with black flecks and your dragon's mouth flesh and eyes will turn blue rather then their normal color. This pearl what available during The Winter Event in December 2024.

SandSlayer: Tan with darker stripes and some black markings. Only found in trading with others and sources from white/boss snappers only, therefore you have to rely on the 2.5% chance you get it.

Snow/SandSlayer pearls will eventually be a reward for killing a massive worm that will spawn in the desert and snowy maps coming eventually, the white/boss snappers are currently just a placeholder most likely.

Quests and Unlockables
Excluding the Winter Event Quest line (which was December and one week in February, 2024 & 2025), the current ones in game now unlock you the Melanistic skin, BroodWatcher and you can also "unlock" Biolumin.

Melanistic Skin

While this unlockable has a couple uncertainties, there is a basic line of steps you have to follow, just make sure for this one you have 2-4 hours available with no breaks.

  1. Make sure first you get nested in by someone or via the NPC Biolumin nest (more later)

  2. Next, you have to grow all the way to adult without losing the dragon or logging out whatsoever.

  3. When you spawn a new dragon and click between the new skins, melanistic should now be an option! Enjoy.

Becoming a Brood Watcher

The Brood Watcher is a class 6 dragon with a stand-ground tank style. While it can fly (slowly) it can not attack in the air. To unlock this dragon you must head to the redwoods in the most southeastern most point and complete a quest.

  1. First, to actually initiate the quest go to you "I" tab and click the bottom button of the selection bar, it will look like a scroll

  2. Once on the quest tab, select the "Becoming a Brood Watcher" quest and follow the next set of directions.

  3. Then fly to the south eastern redwoods, search until you find a herd of brood watchers, first speak to the one on your left if you are facing them head on. (cords in the photo/link below, credit to Besrodik!)

    https://images.steamusercontent.com/ugc/18684416513896253/D3646CDD5AB3DAD3B82FC24F7469509A9DC47FF1/imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

  4. This brood watcher will tell you to talk to the other adult brood to it's left (your right) and there you will ask it about it's problems.

  5. Once you accept this quest you will be sent off to eat a poisonous mushroom, once you find one and eat it you should sleep to ware off the poison.

  6. After completing this part of the quest return to the brood watcher who originally told you to eat a mushroom, after this they'll want you to prove the mushrooms are safe for their hatchlings to eat.

  7. They will tell you to prove your point farther and have you eat 10 of the poisonous mushrooms. In order to do this, you can either keep searching in these redwoods or a better place, swamp to the west.

  8. Once you eat a mushroom you should sleep until the effect (sickness) is gone, then once that is gone repeat until you have eaten 10 mushrooms.

  9. Once this is finished head back to the broodwatcher npc (they are still in the same place as before) who told you to eat 10 mushrooms.

  10. Interact with them and tell them that you found the mushrooms, you will then after speaking to them, unlock the broodwatcher as a spawnable!

  11. You will have to repeat this on every new server, it is a per server unlock.

Biolumin NPC Nest

The Biolumin NPC nest is located on Bio Island on the southeast portion of the island. All players that use the egg(s) there will spawn in always male and always Iconic (or Mythical skin on rare occasions)

  1. First you have to get there

  2. There will be 0-6 eggs in the nest at any time, when there are no eggs you'll have to return at a later time.

  3. However when there is an egg(s) you can go up to the standing Bio by the nest and request to help them hatch their egg(s).

  4. After this your dragon will be logged and you will have yourself a baby bio. Your dragon you used to get it will be immediately placed into sleep and left there for five minutes.

  5. If you are playing PVP and want to save your dragon, the best thing to do is to relog really quickly onto it and hide it in the bushes near the nest or farther, otherwise, enjoy!
Dragon Stats (WIP)
There are several mutation points that can effect a dragon's speed, bite force, protections and more. There is also slight possibility for human error and these are the closest estimates I have gained after 1 minute of each distance (One 0.1 tick on the cords is a meter) multiplied by 60 then divided by 1000 to get the length in kilometers and there for the km/h speed.

Speeds

Speed equation ((c x 10) x 60)/1000, an example: <(2361x60)/1000>, which is from the no speed mut fs average flight test. C=current cord subtracted by starting cord or in general the overall distance traveled. I used 60 since I used a 0.0 cord and used 60 second timer so an hour would be both by x60, there for canceling the timer entirely when transferring it to km/h. Speeds are also rounded to the X.X_ placement (hundredths)

While these speeds may seem a bit shocking (fs crouching being 10.62km/h was to me), these dragons are massive. An elder fs being 17 meters long alone is a good example to show compared to it's speeds.

With no speed mutation points:

Sure, otherwise, I wouldn't have shared my screenshot here. Glad that I could help.

Thanks Besrodik, I'll use that if that's alright (credit ofc), I simply have been really busy and been doing this in my scraps of scraps of time and I also haven't played anywhere other then the testing/deathmatch server for a while now (getting all speeds). Tysm!

Thanks a lot!
If needed, I have a screenshot with the coords of NPC one needs to talk with to get a brood watcher dragon.

Hey there! I've redone the elder section with the rest and the new crystals along with the new and missed pieces of eldering. Skins and cosmetic pearls are in here as well, soon I'll work on the AI and then information of how to get Mela, BroodWatcher and Bio. Anything else you would want added will be as soon as I can get to it!

Hello. I think, another topic that could be unclear but interesting and useful for new or returning players is about how the skin system works. How to get one, whether the skin becomes lost forever if its carrier dies or it is added to some sort of a roaster on the screen where we choose a dragon etc. This also concerns pearls: which ones are available, how to get etc.
