Smolensk Stalemate [Map]

The legend, Joni 'Xendance' Mäkelä's; 'Smolensk Stalemate Beta 3' now brought to Easy Red II... not without the Beren charm! This is an improvement in my map editing skills and I really tried to be polished. There may be one major update but that is it - I do not have much time for this anymore and will be slowing down on maps for awhile. This one is special to me and will remain a gaming sanctuary for me and my mental health for many years to come. Thank you for enjoying my recreations and I hope to still take part in this amazing community.

The map is a largely faithful reconstruction and reimagining of a classic Ostfront community map! The scale is fit in standard for RO Ostfront which had usually 8-16 players on each side. I have utilized a small number of mods in order to keep the look of the map refined and honestly there is not too much choice for the Eastern Front right now. In order to match the original map I have made use of houses from nearly all DLC; Normandy, Stalingrad. There are no scale issues with this map and all buildings are walk-able and fight-able. I plan to finish furnishing every building in the second and final update. AI actually prioritizes sandbags so placing them in rooms is really handy.

Currently within the map it is evident that a German column was stopped by a Zis-2 while working it's way near Smolensk. German Armor attempted to muscle out the gun position, but has blundered by attacking a decoy position instead - showing their weak sides to Russian guns... A bombardment of the ridge was ordered but was unsuccessful in creating any damage to the Soviet defenses. I have based the destruction on my own HE-111 career experiences in IL-2 where bombers could not make it to the target and weather led to poor bomb drops (I don't know if any Heinkels flew over Smolensk in '43 and I do not care). The bombardment however has caused burning within the back line which opens up field of view down into the workers village near the fields.

I have included a hidden easter egg that is in dedication to the whole reason I released any community missions... My Wife. Within the easter egg area are weapon crates and ammunition for savvy players or those who want comfort within this cruel and unforgiving game.
