"Help, I'm poor!" Eating on a budget and margins on trading.
By Darkling
What foods have the best stamina to gold ratio? How can I make a profit on trading? Which person sells that thing I need? I made the spreadsheet so you don't have to!

Intro
I reached a point where I couldn't get any further without figuring out the best way to make gold. Hopefully you can benefit from the evening I spent spreadsheeting.
Strength
This table lists foods and resting by their cost per strength gained. As of version 1.0.1, buying firewood from the Merchant in the Marketplace and resting at camp (Crossroads or Plain) is the most cost efficient, but takes more time since you have to go through the night/day animation each time. Buying eggs from the baker's wife in the marketplace (available after helping the baker at the inn) and making omelets in either camp is the most cost effective way of gaining strength by eating.

Many thanks to Thamior Silberdrache for pointing out that I had left out resting entirely.

Trading
Many thanks to Matinny for pointing out that buying honey from the Beekeeper at the River and selling it to the Baker at the Inn gives 1 coin profit, but is a real time saver with fewer steps. There is a button on the left side of the trading window that allows you to change between 1x, 5x, and 10x quantities.

Selling grain isn't available until later in the game. The higher cost with the same profit makes it less efficient than honey.

There are several options for making a profit by buying materials, crafting them, and selling the result. "Make antidote from herbs" offered by the Alchemist at the River will net 4 coins per potion. Honey flowers are available from Gregory at the Crossroads and stingers are sold by the Alchemist. Antidotes can then be sold to the Apprentice at the Mage Guild.

Art Elleys, if Google Translate didn't mangle what you said and I'm understanding correctly, honey is the most straightforward way to make money, but I wanted to include the other ways in the table for comparison. Thanks for your comment!

Art Elleys, если Google Translate не исказил то, что вы сказали, и я правильно понял, мед — это самый простой способ заработать деньги, но я хотел включить другие способы в таблицу для сравнения. Спасибо за ваш комментарий!

Thanks, Thamior. Updated.

lame digits, I just finished the quest guide. It might still be going through automated checks so if it doesn't show up, try again later. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3380915974

I can't think of a way to display prices that would be useful and not take me a ridiculous amount of time so I'll throw them after each item in that table.

There is a better way to gain strenght, although it is far slower. Buying firewood costs 5 gold each but resting on a fireplace gives 10 strength, so you have 2 points of strength per gold. It requieres times, though as resting at a fire will have its nicht/day animation playing.

Oh, and the buy/sell list could be even more useful with price included. I think the bread was cheaper from the marketplace than from the inn, unfortunately i bought a lot from the wrong vendor before realizing that :(

Wow, that’s impressive work. But can you also make a sheet with all quests and their rewards (items or availability of other quests), as people will keep asking about that on the forums even when nobody visits them anymore?
Darkling  [author] 3 Dec, 2024 @ 7:13am
Doh! I remember past games having more convoluted trading so I totally missed that. Thank you!!
