Battlefront released in 2015 to little success, many criticizing a complete lack of a campaign. The game was solely built on online features, offering very little outside multiplayer. With the launch of Battlefront II in 2017, many players disappointed in the first left for the sequel. However, Battlefront still has an active community of a few, committed players.
As you rank up, you'll be able to purchase some weapons. These can be bought in the unlocks menu or the pregame menu. Below is a quick description of starting weapons. (See Complete Battlefront Guide for full list).

A280C
Rank Required: 8
Cost: 1,550 Credits

If no weapon is owned, the A280C is assigned while playing as the Rebels. With decent range and firepower, it makes for an okay starter gun.

E-11
Rank Required: 8
Cost: 1,550 Credits

If no weapon is owned, the E-11 is assigned while playing as the Imperials. With high damage but a low rate of fire, the E-11 is incredibly easy to use, and It still manages to hold up against stronger weapons later in the game. I recommend buying it when you can, so you can use it as both factions.

DLT-19
Rank Required: 3
Cost: 550 Credits

A heavy blaster with surprisingly long range. If you prefer machine-gun like weapons, I would recommend as it is effective in almost all scenarios.

DH-17
Rank Required: 3
Cost: 550 Credits

If heavy weaponry like the DLT-19 isn't your favorite, I would advise using this, the DH-17. With a high rate of fire, it's a little difficult to control, but after some practice it makes for a great blaster.

Along with your weapon, you will also build a Star Card hand. These loadouts consist of a few different types of cards:

Thermal Detonator Cost: 100 Credits Unlock Rank: 2

Asset Cards
Weapons and gadgets. Asset Cards can be used an infinite amount of times, with only a few second cool down determining when they can be used.

Charge Cards
Abilities and affects. On top of a few second cool down, you have a limited number of uses. When you run out of charges, you can find more scattered throughout the maps, or you can purchase more.

Trait Cards
Passive affects. Instead of a cool down, trait cards have levels. The more score you gain in a single life, the stronger the card will become. Resets upon death.

You will be able to equip 2 Asset cards, 1 Charge card, and 1 Trait card in your hand.

Here are some of the cards I recommend for starting out (for a full list see Battlefront Complete Guide).

Asset Cards

Thermal Detonator
Rank Required: 2
Cost: 100 Credits

The Thermal Detonator is a simple yet deadly grenade. Hard to correctly time, but if done right can be extremely effective.

Pulse Canon
Rank Required: 6
Cost: 2,200 Credits

The Pulse Canon is a long range rifle, perfect for sniping. Requires a few seconds to be fully charged before firing.

Impact Grenade
Rank Required: 6
Cost: 2,200 Credits

The Impact Grenade is an easy alternative to the Thermal Detonator. Although the Impact Grenade has a smaller blast radius, it detonates on impact, making it easier to aim.

Jump Pack
Rank Required: 13
Cost: 4,000 Credits

The Jump Pack is an incredibly versatile tool for covering large distances. Upon activation, the Jump Pack throws you up and forward a decent ways.

Charge Cards

Cooling Cell
Rank Required: 7
Cost: 2,200

While in use, weapon does not overheat. Useful when paired with a heavy blaster.

Scan Pulse
Rank Required: 13
Cost: 1,700

While in use, allows you to see the outline of enemies. Helpful for small, indoor maps.

As mentioned in the beginning, Battlefront completely lacks any sort of campaign. There are a few small battles you can take part in solo or with a friend.

Training
Solo, Online co-op with a friend

A few missions that help new players to get a feel for mechanics unique to Battlefront. Learn how to maneuver a walker, throw a lightsaber, or fly an X-Wing.

Battles
Solo, Online versus with a friend

Quick battle against a friend and a few AI opponents. If this is your first time playing, I would recommend playing a few rounds against the AI to practice.

Survival
Solo, Online co-op with a friend

Fight against increasingly difficult waves of AI Imperials. I would not recommend this mode as a beginner, as it is extremely difficult.
Before you start playing online, select options in the main menu, and then EA account. Switch the matchmaking region to Europe. The few players left on Battlefront almost exclusively use Europe servers.

In the Online menu, you will see a few options of game modes. Most the time, you'll have the best luck searching 12 player modes. This will search across three game modes:

Cargo
Online 6v6

Each faction has a cargo box to defend. The enemy team can steal your cargo box, but you have the option to go on the offensive and steal theirs. Really simple, first team to 10 points wins.

Drop Pods
Online 6v6

Drop pods will fall from the sky, and each team has to claim a pod and try to defend it. Game ends when the first team reaches 5 pods claimed.

Droid Run
Online 6v6

Droids are scattered and slowly move throughout the map. Each team fights to control the most droids at once. First team to 100 points wins.

Advice

As I said in the beginning, only a few players still remain in Battlefront. Most of these players are incredibly good at the game, and they will probably kill you a lot. Only with practice can you stand a chance against them so here's my advice:

While shooting, strafe back and forth.
While you are shooting, quickly move from left to right, maintaining your aim. This makes you a harder target to hit.

Press [ALT] to roll.
You can press [ALT] combined with walking left or right to perform a roll. This will allow you to quickly move out of harms way.

Good luck, you'll need it.
