Black Screen Fix [TEXT & VIDEO]

If you're anything like me and have recently decided to boot up the original Star Wars Battlefront 2 you might be met with a weird sorta error inwhichcase you blackscreen after character select. You can boot up the game, start a match, load in aaaaaand after selecting your class the game promptly shows ONLY a black screen. I figured out how to fix this.

Now this is strictly for the STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2 CLASSIC 2005 EDITION on steam. I don't know nothin' about the 2024 classics collection remasters nor the 2017 remake also titled 'Star Wars Battlefront II.' What a confusing selection of titles.

Okay so to fix our black screen problem...

Find the game in your steam library.

Right click its title and scroll down the menu before hitting the properties button.

In the general tab go ahead and turn off the STEAM OVERLAY WHILE IN-GAME.

This seemed to fix the issue for me. You can go ahead and test it now - if It didn't fix the problem I would advise making sure you don't have any other programs on your computer that are producing visual overlays. Graphics card softwares and things like discord usually have overlays that could also potentially be causing problems.
