Description
"The last Axis troops, under SS-Obersturmfürher Babick. The backbone of the little force was made up of Waffen SS volunteers from 2 of the SS armoured divisions that had retreated into the city. They were supported by a mix of Naval Infantry and clerks, holed up inside the Reichstag itself.

;Hold onto at least one of the objectives to win. There [is] a total of 5 landmarks to be held across the Königsplatz, including the final approach to the Reichstag...

A battallion of Komsomol members, under Captain Neustroyev. These men were volunteers, Communist party stalwarts, all vying for the opportunity to be at the finish as the Hitlerite invaders were finally crushed.

;Take the sequence of [9] Objectives, starting with the [Washingtonplatz and Moltke Bridge], then work your way across the [Ministry Buildings & Opera House] to take the approach [of] the Reichstag itself. You have plenty of artillery to keep the Germans at bay, plus tank support from T-34s and heavy IS-2s. Be careful to protect your tanks from enemy infantry." - Tripwire

*UPDATED: ISU-152 replaces earlier model! Thanks for 1500+ views!! Thanks more for playing!!!* Introducing a reinvented Red Orchestra mission, "Königsplatz"! All appreciation goes to Kommandant as this map of Berlin is absolutely awe inspiring! This mission is designed with historical accuracy as the focus, that is to say that gameplay is not a close second! This mission takes name and inspiration from the Tripwire original (NOT MUNICH, I know the name is confusing but this is Berlin through n' through), though it’s greatly expanded upon and continues the 'Combined Arms' gameplay.
I have taken great inspiration from the gameplay of Combat Mission. Coordination of support, infantry, and armor will lead you to victory! Failure to find weakness in the enemy is costly... {*balanced for limited MP play almost}

This is so far the most comprehensive recreation of the Berlin inner city assault within a singular mission on the workshop. The mission is balanced for both sides and offers many spawns and includes a vast variety of weaponry and creativity for the player. Play as a Soviet IS-2 commander slowly making your way through the cramped streets of Berlin, or play as the Volk and make use of that Panzerfaust! Schnelle!

It is emphasized that the player turn down the game music to 0 and listen to the 7th Symphony provided by Strendant's Gramophone mod. With help from @Akoza, I have updated the mission to try and fit reality while still telling the story how I wish.
Specialized units appear within areas which they had and could have appeared fighting historically. Similarly certain German armor and emplacements appear in locations and numbers that are as historical as can be.

The attack begins through the bombed out Lehrter Station towards the Washingtonplatz, where a hastened defense is being held by a mix of SS, Volkssturm, and Fallschirmjäger. Soviets will then make a push from Alte-Moabiter Street across the Spree River into the city center. Objectives must be taken surrounding the Diplomatic Quarter and the Ministry of the Interior before an assault of the Kroll Opera House is made.

Once at the north face of the Opera House, Soviets must go room to room, floor to floor clearing out resistance in two phases. Finally the assault of the Königsplatz occurs within another two phases. Resistance is tough within the Monuments area as there are machine gun kill zones, and multiple 8,8 Flak guns before and after the tank ditch. During the assault of the Königsplatz, attacking Soviets will receive HE fire from the Flak Tower 2km away.

Armor is updated to reflect history; T-34-85s, IS-2s, Panthers, Ferdinands, Jagdpanzer 38, Jadgpanzer 4, Tiger I, and the King Tiger. This selection is based on real history. Specific tanks like the King Tiger will appear near the Kroll Opera House and a Tiger I spawn appears near the Brandenburg Gate. Like-wise historic characters may appear like Ernst-Günther Schenck who is a medic in select Volkssturm sections or Gerhard Babick within the Reichstag!

Soviet Squads; The main Soviet force is made up of historical sections of 10 men. Some are Automatic based and others are fully equipped with Rifles. In reality these sections could range from 9-13 men including machine gun crewmen. For the sake of ER2 we have dropped the portable maxim gun. Bandages may be in shorter supply in these squads, but they do include a corpsman to balance this out. Men armed with SVTs have lessened amounts of magazines as historically they were issued in small numbers to individual soldiers and were primarily loaded using stripper clips. Sadly this is not available right now so I advise keeping your magazines topped up with loose ammo. Fallen comrades are an excellent source of supplies!
PPSHs are in variety aswell: stick magazines will be the most common as the drums were cheap copies of Suomi drums and rarely ever worked well. Stick magazines also had to be fitted to the gun in most cases, but they fed reliably.

German Squads; This mission is unique out of my other rosters as it provides an extensive line up of many different German units and stories. Most prevalent are the SS sections and Volkssturm groups which have 7 men each (besides Schenck's squad which is +1). This limited number of men within German squads is to represent an arbitrary % of depletion. Holding before the Moltke Bridge is a small hold out of 9th Division Fallschirmjäger made up of 6 men. This limited number and rare spawn is to reflect the real history as the division suffered greatly and was practically wiped out. These parachutists are well equipped and are one of the only squads to have AT mines.
Once fighting reaches the Ministry of the Interior and Reichstag, there are Kriegsmarine holdouts who are armed in a similar fashion to the SS surrounding them - though they have an extra anti-tank kick. Intermittently there will be a spawn of a small Flammenwerfer detachment of 2 men.

What makes my squads different than most? Men are armed with 'historical variety', for example; my Volkssturm groups weaponry is based on a list of arms attributed to a Volkssturm unit located in Munich. Ammo is allotted in historical amounts. Medics are rare. Casualties will often succumb to their wounds before a corpsman or medic can get to them.
Rations are dispersed in a fashion decided on privilege of rank, but also in the danger of said combat role. Sappers and Assault troops will be found with more food in some cases, this could either be from their own pilfering or because of merit. Sardines are most prevalent as a nod to my Portuguese wife. Portugal sold sardines to both sides!

Inspired heavily by RO Ostfront and Combat Mission.

@SnorpMan, Will update the mission possibly? The objectives are sized this way so that the trenches are included within the defense.

id say my only issue with this mission is a couple capture zones like the for example the last one is slightly to big which made my ai not push for like 6 minutes

@Killaz0073, Been tweaking their spawns to make them slightly less rare when at the Ministry buildings and especially the Reichstag. :thestar:

@[PKKA]Tovarish ToNy Thank you! My goal was to have the most extensive inner city fight all in one mission and this does it! There are 2 Berlin campaigns that are also good; One follows the SS Charlemagne and another takes the city fight closer to the bunker.:thestar:

Finally a good Berlin mission that I have been itching since I left Enlisted. Closest thing to have a Berlin campaign there without the Gaijin BS where this one is going to cut it until ER2 gets its own official Berlin campaign.

Have completed a complete Re-Balance as I felt the AI took too long to make advances on certain hardpoints. Germans get more firepower instantly and Soviets have quicker spawns in some spots that were lacking. You could spectate the whole match and Soviets will come out ontop mostly, though they pay very dearly for every inch of ground taken. :thestar:

@thes_102, Just did some testing and have made some edits to make the Soviets flow in quicker! This phase was a cakewalk when the German AI did not have full access to the MGs and windows. This has created a lovely kill box that requires flanking in order to terminate the MGs within succession.
