July 9th, 2082. It has been two weeks since the Royal Navy of the Kingdom of West Sahara sank a commandeered Greek cruiser now belonging to a vast band of pirates whose home berth was that of Tripoli, Libya, after the cruiser hijacked and plundered a merchant vessel bound for Naples, which, likewise, had fallen under the control of the pirates.

The so-dubbed "Pirate King of Tripoli" was infuriated at losing one of his most powerful vessels. All of the free cities would pay tribute in the form of war materiel, wealth, or men, as a sort of levy to bolster his forces, all for one goal: revenge. And, of course, to test just how powerful this supposedly well-advanced kingdom really was.

Prince Amir, ruling as regent whilst his father was admitted into hospice care, found himself awoken that very morning to see dozens of ships and teeming swarms of raiders landing on the beaches of Thaelaib City, the capital of his father's kingdom, which he was due to inherit once the king finally passed away from the cancer. The young prince now had been given the perfect chance to prove himself worthy of throne of his ancestors, and thus drummed up a rapid defense.

Royal Army Rangers sprang forth from Camp Menahar on the outskirts of town, or were flown in from their training exercises in the deserts, blanks quickly swapped for live ammunition. The city's defense force was rapidly mustered and deployed to key strategic locations within the city, and a militia was gathered up, consisting of willing and able-bodied civilian gun owners, all of whom had previously served as part of their mandatory two-year conscription. Even the prince himself would not sit this battle out, climbing to the highest tower in the royal palace to pick off raiders from afar, or to call in pin-point accurate artillery and air strikes.

The air force, likewise, scrambled fighter jets to deal with ground targets, as well as a host of pre-war propeller planes.

The battle has been raging for well over sixteen hours; cracks are starting to show in the city's defenses, ones that cannot be easily filled as the casualties begin to mount. Their troops wear body armor and all are well-trained in handling various weaponry; their armored corps wields the most advanced tanks and infantry fighting vehicles; their air force flies the fastest and most powerful aircraft in the new world.... and yet, the pirates seeking to plunder their beautiful city are seemingly throwing their full force into this fight, aiming to humiliate the one of the most powerful post-nuclear nations to date, or at least make them suffer for not daring to submit to the will of the Pirate King.

The question remains: will overwhelming numbers be enough, or will the valiant defenders of Thaelaib City throw the invaders back into the seas from whence they came?
