Birth & Death Rework

In 1 collection by Dad needs a Beer
Dad needs a Beer Mod Collection

Description
[Why I made this]
1. I wanted courtiers, barons have more kids.
2. Those inactive and unskilled characters wasting my computer resources. They need to go.
3. I wanted to reflect the medieval era, where the fragility of life, especially in infancy, made each child all the more precious.

[What it does]
1. The child limit for unlanded, baron raised.
2. Implanted a mechanic that lowered the fertility of inactive and unskilled characters or removed them from the game through death.
3. Higher infant mortality. Around 20% of infant will not survive.

[How it works]
Due to the complexity of the conditions, I can't list them all, but in generally,
A population filter is applied annually. Those filtered out will either die or have reduced fertility.
The following are exempt:
1. Children or young.
2. Top 4 in line of succession
3. Count or higher
4. Possessors of good genetic traits
5. Those with at least one higher skill or overall skillful.
6. Courtiers, councilors, and knights are almost always excluded.

In short, it filters out seriously unskilled wanderer who don't have any job.

So ive isolated this mod as having a issue with AGOT.
Something about the modifiers changes how dragons work and breaks their default combat modifiers. meaning you dont get a higher battle role when they are in your armies.
it also breaks them and allows them to serve as knights or councilors.

I dont know if this is something you can look at making a compatibility patch for.
you may want to state it is NOT AGOT compatible in the meantime

Otherwise great mod

@Arathel Sounds like some seriously bad luck, or maybe you've got another mod messing with health values. I've include vanilla health values in latest update, so loading this one last should fix it.

@uLi Should work fine if this one loaded last. Not sure though.

hey man! amazing mod (i didnt try it yet), but it looks fun... my only problem is that in my normal playthroughs im used to play with dark ages and population control mods... which basically do the same stuff your mod does but separately. Would this mod work together with those two?

Hi. Great mod, really nice :) Just one point, the deaths of newborns. Did a playthrough now and I had 6 children in a row die while sleeping. Been 1 or 2 had been normal, but 6 in a row? :steamhappy: Have the mod at the end of load order too

@Blank Thanks for the feedback. No more doomed claimants.

Good mod, Should probably add exceptions for claimants, characters from powerful families and characters with relationships. It seems as though quite often if you conquer a county from a useless character they proceed to die shortly after due to filtering
