CDC Rapid Response 2 [B42 & B41]

Description
CDC RAPID RESPONSE 2 IS OUT NOW FOR B42!

ALSO RELEASED ON B41 FOR YOUR MP ENJOYMENT!

Check out CDC Rapid Response II - Air Traffic, out now!

The CDC is Responding to the Knox Event

The CDC has organized an emergency response to what they call the KX93185 virus. Viral test kits, medications, and antidotes have been made available via airdrop and checkpoint distribution. The county has been flooded with supplies to combat this plague, and the DoD has responded with forced quarantines.

The response was impressive and calculated. The CDC reported that the virus was simple in nature and easy to cure. This effort seemed hopeful as the National Guard delivered what was needed by land and air. But as time passed, it became clear that it was too late. The remnants of this effort are all that remain...

Drug Overhaul

All drugs have been overhauled and are now more dangerous to use, with delayed and/or prolonged effects. Misusing CDC drugs can severely harm or even kill you.

Viral Test Kits

- Viral Test Kits provide an overly complicated and adequately frustrating experience to ensure you test yourself correctly.
- Consumer Grade Tests: Provide solid results quickly (if you read the directions! "Did we remember to put those in?", wonders a lab tech).
- Premium Grade Tests: Provide better results and are easier to use.
- Weathered Test Kits: These might help you... or just give you false hope.

- Packaged Viral Test Kits contain everything you need, but you're more likely to find loose components of these kits.
- The Viral Test Kit system now requires the user to use a sialogogue or equivalent. (Built-in PZ systems allow for other methods—figure it out, or die trying.)

Kit Types:
- Consumer Viral Test: Test for the virus.
- Premium Viral Test: 100% accuracy.
- Weathered Test Kits: Good luck!

Medications

Medications are now more dangerous. Use them cautiously and prepare accordingly—especially when using unfamiliar ones. Poor health or unknown preexisting conditions can lead to sickness or death.

- Consumer Grade Medications: Assist with infections but may cause sickness or death, particularly for those with preexisting conditions.
- Premium Medications: Safer and more effective but still require careful use.
- Weathered Medications: These may have been sitting in filth for years. Would you trust your life to a pill found in a drain?
- Medications can be found packaged or as loose pills.

Medication Types:
- Bitezapro: 24-48 hour protection (with side effects).
- Fevarax: 48-72 hour protection (with side effects).
- Humanox: 24-48 hour protection (with side effects).
- Salivix: 48-72 hour protection (with side effects).
- Zomboflex: 24-48 hour protection (with side effects).
- Zedalis: 36-48 hour protection (with side effects).
- Weathered Pills: Who knows what they do?!
- Viazom: 5-day protection (no side effects, single-use inhalant).
- Several secret medications—where could they be?

Antidotes

Antidotes provide a cure but come with risks. They allow you to start over and survive this terrible new world.

- Low-quality antidotes are painful and risky—only the strongest will survive their effects. ("Burns like 1,000 suns!")
- High-quality antidotes are safer but require proper preparation and a calm environment.
- Weathered Syrettes: Found in the wild. Use them at your own peril.

Antidote Types:
- Globunex: Cures infection (with side effects).
- Novaulin: Cures infection (with side effects).
- Sovextin: Cures infection (with side effects).
- KX9 Spike: Cures infection (no side effects).
- Roto-mRNA: Cures infection (no side effects).
- Weathered Syrette: Don’t do it!!

CDC Packages and Airdrops

- Over 1,000 tons of medical aid were delivered via air and ground. Supplies were distributed at checkpoints and public facilities or delivered directly to homes. As the virus spread, secure zones fell, and airdrops became the primary method of delivery—until they stopped entirely.

Airdrop Types:
- CDC Yellow Airdrop: Low-grade items.
- CDC Orange Airdrop: Mid-grade items.
- CDC Red Airdrop: High-grade items.
- CDC Weathered Airdrop: Wet and gross!

Package Types:
- CDC Family Pack: Supplies for families.
- CDC Clinical Pack: Supplies for clinics.
- CDC First Responder Pack: Supplies for first responders.
- CDC Weathered Pack: Looks beat up but may contain something useful.

Hardcore Mode Packages

For a more challenging experience with low drop rates:
- Bundle of Items in Aluminum
- Bundle of Items in Fabric
- Bundle of Items in Bottle
- Bundle of Items in Jar
- Bundle of Items in Wallet
- Large Bundle of Items in Paper
- Small Bundle of Items in Paper

Secret and Unknown Items

- Military-use items with mysterious purposes. What do they do? How do you use them? Who knows!

Literature

As the virus spread, so did misinformation. The CDC responded with leaflets and printed guides, delivered en masse from the skies by helicopters.

Literature Types:
- CDC General Guide
- CDC Medication Guide
- CDC Antidote Guide
- 7 Different CDC Leaflets

Sandbox Settings

- Customize loot rates and systems.
- Control how medications and cures affect the player.

Hardcore Mode

- Simulate a smaller CDC response or experience the world years later, where CDC materials are nearly extinct. If you’re lucky, you may find old remnants (bundles of items).

New Lore

- Expanded lore around the DoD and CDC efforts in Knox County.

Special Features

- Dormancy (Default: Enabled): Improved dormancy features for better survival mechanics.
- Wound Contamination (Default: Disabled): Risk of infection in exposed wounds.
- Hardcore Treatments (Default: Disabled): Prolonged effects of CDC drugs may kill the player.

Tested in single-player only at this time.

Please report bugs in the comments.

For anyone attempting to run Bandits week One legacy, I believe this cdc II mod spawns positive viral test kits on npcs which ends up killing them/spawning them as a corpse. i have NOT read the mod description :p

I would also recommend you look into the recipe for the syringe. When you open it, you end up getting duplicates.

If anything, I would also maybe encourage you to look into the side effects for the ones that delay zombification. If the idea is that they're supposed to give you a chance to try and find a cure, they probably shouldn't have such severe side effects that makes it difficult to find them.

Overall, I do enjoy this mod, I also think the settings could really use an explanation in game so that we can better understand how changing them affects things.

Does anyone know if this mod plays nice with Antibodies mod?

Currently it looks like it only seems to have issues with the foraging system. Disabling foraging in the mod's settings seems to mostly fix the issue.

Hey all, sorry for all the delays. I haven't been modding too much and when I do I have been focusing on the multiplayer experience (CDCRR Community). Did the recent B42 update break compatibility? I can take some time to look over everything this next week, but I need to setup a rig for the B42 install so it won't interfere with my B41 things. - In the meantime if you have a MP server, CDCRR Community is this mod but tuned for the multiplayer experience (B41).

Please consider updating this mod when you find the time or when we get closer to B42 Stable. No other mod adds this level of depth and risk when it comes to having the potential to survive infection.
