Just saying that generalising roles can backfire pretty badly when you manage a mid-table or relegation team. Fancy roles like Halfbacks don't necessarily work in every formation and even more straightforward roles like BWMs can lead to holes in midfield.
I can't imagine anyone even being interested in a complete rundown of tactics, being told how to win or even make specific things happen. We're all into FM because we wan't to test our own knowledge and understanding of football, not to be told how to beat a mathematical equation :)
Take Target Man for example, it is on of the few roles which passively change HOW the teams passes the ball. You can go for short passing/retain possesion all you want but the team will be playing long balls aiming at your Target man.
There are so many things to consider, you're best advised to start with a simple tactic and go from there. Watch the first games on full match mode and use the analysis tool to spot flaws, then alter your tactic and/or use player instructions to overcome them.
Once the Newgens are good enough, I'll be selling Remy and Costa. Possibly Remy even sooner to get him out before he's 30.
It's cost me a fair bit and I use an all English youth team for League Cup/FA Cup. I'll probably win the league, but that's more down to Man.City, Arsenal and Liverpool all performing below expectations and United being my only competition. That said, by 2018 I expect my team to be nigh invincible and entirely English save for Ruben Neves, who looks like he will become the best DM in the entire game and stay that for 15 years.
In my current 15/16 season my team is;
Playing a bog standard 4-4-2, with attacking/possession football, focusing attack down flanks and through the center with Fabregas/Remy link-up. Matic sits intfront of Terry/Zouma and I very rarely concede goals.
Courtois
Chambers, Terry*, Zouma*, Dave
Cuadrado, Matic*, Fabregas*, Hazard*
Remy*, Costa*
Terry alternating with Jason McCarthy (i think it was)
Matic alternating with Ruben Neves (i think it was) a portoguese wonderkid DM/CM
Fabregas alternating with Ward-Prowse
Hazard alternating with Josh Murphy
Remy alternating with a English newgen
Costa alternating with a English newgen
Courtois, Azpi, Ramos, Cahill, Carvajal, Javi Martinez, Pogba, Hazard, Cristiano, Neymar, Messi.
