1. Introduction
Hello! This guide will cover some tips for obtains all of the achievements in Mount Your Friends 3D: A Hard Man is Good to Climb. Most of the achievements will be unlocked naturally while trying to obtain "Golden God", so unlocking that achievement will be the primary focus. Additionally, approximate unlock times for each mode's gold statues will be included (something frustratingly not documented inside of the game).

Note that some of the gold statues will be extremely difficult if not impossible to obtain solo. I recommend using at least two accounts when going for 100% achievements. This could be two accounts you are running at once or a combination of you and a friend. See section two for more details. All other achievements, including Silver Spooner, are obtainable solo.

Note that everything related to these achievements appears to be saved to your local files and could likely be transferred to a different account, if desired. See the conclusion for more details.

2. Statue Achievements (Golden God, Silver Spooner, Bronzed Adonis)
    Golden God
Got Gold statues in Solo or Online modes for Master and below settings

    Silver Spooner
Got Silver statues in Solo or Online modes for Pro and below settings

    Bronzed Adonis
Got Bronze statues in Solo or Online modes for Advanced and below settings

These achievements require obtaining different "statues" for various play modes. The statues are unlocked based on your highest score for that particular mode and can be tracked in the Hall of Fame from the main menu. Note that the statues awarded are determined separately for solo, friends (a combination of "play offline" and "private online modes"), and online modes. Since the other achievements in this section are essentially prerequisites, Golden God is the only achievement you need to focus on.

The levels or play modes are separated into the following groups:

Rookie (teal):
  • Standard
  • Traditional
  • Spiral
  • Low Gravity
Advanced (green):
  • Mid Standard
  • Acceleration
  • 5M Flat
  • Blockade
Pro (Orange):
  • High Standard
  • Tension
  • Gaps
  • Patterns
Master (Red):
  • Rushed
  • Shuffle
  • Tension 2
  • Acceleration 2
Bonus (Purple):
  • Direct
  • Jumbo
  • Horiz Accel
  • Spread
Other / Uncategorized :
  • Challenger
  • Custom Mode

Golden God requires obtaining gold statues in the Master, Pro, Advanced, and Rookie categories. The pattern is similar for Silver Spooner and Bronze Adonis. Despite unlocking with the other categories, the bonus game modes are not required for any of the statue achievements. The same is true for the extra Challenger mode and Custom mode. Additionally, hard timers do not appear to change the height requirements for gold statues, so don't use them.

Please be aware that statues unlocked in "friends" modes do not count. Only solo and online statues will count for these achievements. Thankfully, the statues can be obtained in a mix between solo and online and still count. There is no need to obtain all of the gold statues in a single play mode.

Gold Statues Heights

The table below will show a minimum and maximum requirement for each game mode to obtain gold statues. These are based on personal attempts, counting the highest height that was not gold and the lowest height that was gold, respectively. Note that the range in some of these is large, this does not necessarily mean that the actual gold height requirement is in between the two values. it could be just above the minimum height or just below the maximum. If I obtained a gold statue on the first attempt, the minimum height section will be marked as N/A. As far as I could determine, the height requirements for gold are identical across solo and online modes. That being said, all values shown in the table are for solo mode unless marked with an *asterisk* in which case I obtained that score in online mode.

Online vs Solo Mode Discussion
Most of the gold statues and all of the silver statues can be obtained, though sometimes with some difficulty, in solo mode. However, if you have access to two accounts with the game and two different devices, many levels are easier in online mode. Online mode is technically matchmade with random players, but it is essentially dead, so you should be able to easily link with your second account if you take this method. Unfortunately, the gold heights seem balanced around multiple players, especially in levels with high reserve times like "5M Flat". Just keep in mind that it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to obtain the gold statues in solo mode in these high-reserve levels.

Keep in mind with online mode that the final height for the hall of fame and statues is the highest height your account achieved, not the total final height.

Some notes on the solo mode method:
  • In solo mode you can pause and take a break whenever you need to, even in the middle of round. Take advantage of this.
  • If the reserve time is low or zero, I would generally stick with solo since you don't gain much from online mode and solo mode will guarantee that the final man and associated height is always on your account.
Some notes on the online mode method:
  • As stated above, the final height is the final height that your account achieves, so try to set it up so that the last climber will be on your turn.
  • On levels with high reserve times, online mode is much easier because you are essentially doubling your reserve time with two players (and more if you use more players, though not necessary).
  • I had to use online mode for the following four levels (especially the first two): 5M Flat, Tension, Shuffle, Tension 2.

Other Tips
General Tips:
  • Become very comfortable with adjusting your camera with the wasd keys. Adjust the manual and auto camera sensitivity settings to match your preferences. This can make a significant difference because the right angle makes it easier to target the next latch point.
  • Practice until you are able to fairly consistently fling yourself from your starting point onto the tower without touching the ground. This can save a lot of time, especially in low gravity levels.
  • Some level patterns are random. You may want to restart if you get a bad pattern early that would likely prevent you from getting a good height.
  • If you have extra primary (non-reserve) time, try to maximize the height each climber will obtain. I think the best pattern is generally to have your climber's arms be vertical with his torso facing sideways. If you are burning reserve time this may or may not be worth it depending on the context and level.
  • Most levels will not require flings (where you unlatch both hands at once and fly through the air), but some of the harder levels will. I would recommend avoiding flings unless you must or you will run out of time on your last climb. A single missed fling can easily end a run.
Level-specific tips:
  • Gaps- It seems that the gap will never be two climbers in a row. Take advantage of this and make "safety net" climbers by going just slightly higher and then orienting down. When you know that you are safe for that round (which is always immediately after a gap climber is removed, plus one after that), try to maximize your height.
  • Shuffle- Some of the patterns will require flinging. This may require a restart depending on how much time it takes.
  • For reference, I found the most difficult levels to be Pattern, Shuffle, and Tension 2. 5M Flat and Tension 1 are very difficult if not impossible in solo mode, but pretty reasonable in online mode.

3. Collectables Achievements (Sticky Boy, Flare for Fashion)
    Sticky Boy
    Unlock all stickers

    Flare for Fashion
    Unlock all skins and trails

These achievements are obtained simply by collecting all of the appropriate item. You obtain these items from "gift boxes" at the start of some rounds randomly. From my brief testing, the only thing that seems to matter for these unlocks is how many rounds you start. The height you climb or your playtime/roundtime, do not seem to effect the drops (or at least, they are not required for items to drop).

There are a lot of items, so it will take a large number of games to unlock them all. You can check how many skins and trails you have in the character customization menu. You can see how many stickers you have quickly by hosting a friends only online server and clicking the sticker button in the top right. For reference, there are 16 skins, 16 trails, and 160 stickers total.

The easiest way to get this is to use a simple autoclicker to idle some games. I recommend setting up an 8 player offline multiplayer game. Make a custom gamemode with five second turn times as shown below. Just make sure the autoclicker is running and your mouse is lined up with the "play again button" at the end of the round. This setup will skip the 10s cooldown period between players and start the game again after the 7th player. I left this on overnight to unlock all of the items I was missing.

4. Other Achievements (Tourist Trap, Advanced Mounter, Professional Mounter, Master of Mounting)
    Tourist Trap
Play all Rookie settings at least once

    Advanced Mounter
    Unlock Advanced match settings

    Professional Mounter
    Unlock Pro match settings

    Master of Mounting
    Unlock Master match settings[ /table][/list]

These achievements are self-explanatory, if you follow the in-game directions and achievement description. Regardless, they should unlock as you make progress towards Golden God anyway, so no separate instruction is needed.

I do not believe Tourist Trap requires playing the Direct bonus level, but I am not entirely sure.
5. Conclusion
Some final notes:
  • Most of the achievements did not unlock on steam for me until I closed the game. If you are having issues and you think an achievement should have unlocked try closing, reopening, and closing the game to see if it triggers the unlock.
  • As I mentioned in the introduction, all of the scores and unlockables associated with the achievements appears to be linked to a few files in your local save files. Specifically, LocalScores.hss, LocaScores.hss.bak, and Unlocks.sav. I assume that you could unlock the achievements by transferring this manually between computers and opening the game on a different steam account. I have not tried to confirm though.

That is all I have to say. If you found this guide useful, please give it an upvote! Have a good day!
