The Maniac Patch is a classic Japanese mod/patch for RPG Maker 2k3 created by BingShan1024 that adds a lot of functionalities to the engine.

This patch adds:

• Mouse support.
  
• Custom fonts.
  
• Animated images.
  
• Increased event limits.
  
• Optimization of events.
  
• Backups of your project's data.
  
• Compatibility with OGG files.

Installing it is easy, but a bit confusing at first. You must click on "utility.exe" and this screen will show up.




You have to click on "Language > English" (if you want) and "When to Update Map Events > Immediately (im, default)".

Now you have two different ways to install it, you can do it by patching the entire software or just patching your game. It is recommended to patch the editor (RPG Maker 2k3), not just the game.

In "Patch for Editor" you'll see two different lines. The first one is titled "Source Folder", you should add there the directory of your RPG Maker 2k3's executable.

And the second one, called "Destination Folder", is the directory where the patched version of RPG Maker 2k3 will be installed. By default it'll be on a folder called "maniacs_20250106" (or something among the lines) inside the very same folder where the executable is installed.




Now click on "Apply Patch" and you're done!

If you want to patch your game exclusively, go to "Patch for Game Project" click select in "Project Base Path", then search for the directory where your game's main folder is placed.




And now click on "Apply Patch" and you're done!

Remember to change the middle dots (・) with regular dots. I do this because Steam gets a little bit silly when it sees weird links on any guide.
