Bugs and their workarounds.
By billthebetta
Have you come across some annoying(or gamebreaking) bugs along your way across an apocalyptic America? Well, some of those bugs have workarounds so you may be on your way!

I'll update this as I find more bugs, but I just want to gather some info scattered across the internet into an easy-to-find location.

Intro n' such.
So, I've really been enjoying this game so far, but there's no way you can say this is a good PC port. I'd really hate it if anybody that was interested in finishing this neat little piece of work was turned away by a solid wall(I'm being literal here).

There are some bugs in Enslaved: OttW that will ruin your day and keep you from progressing, but all of those I've encountered yet have had some in-game workaround that lets you continue.
(also, I find some of these fixes friggin hilarious, I mean it)

I had to search around for fixes when I played, and now I'm putting them here so you (hopefully) have easy access to them.

ALSO, if there's there anything I missed or that's still bothering you, leave a comment and I'll check it out.
General fixes.
Turn the "Graphics" on High. That fixes nearly everything.
Really, with this little tidbit the rest of this is irrelevant.
Chapter 1
Well.
This is off to a good start.
I haven't found anything here yet, it's pretty straightforward.
Chapter 2
Hm, I need to replay this and check on one thing.
Mines.
In videos I've seen, most mines have a red radius around that that scream "watch what happens when you touch me I DARE YOU". I didn't have that, so I'm assuming playing on Low Grapic Settings might remove these. I'll check later, but I bet playing on High fixes this.
Chapter 3
Ah! This is where it gets fun!
Ok, so when you rematch the Demo Mech he's *supposed* to break through a wall and start the fight. He also should break through the lower walls in the middle of the courtyard when the battle is underway.

Thing is, he doesn't always break the wall, and when the battle is over you'll get this.
Trip attempting to break physics and phase through the wall. Just you wait, she pulls it off too. (this is how the Demo Mech gets in too) Yeah, you get left behind.

PROBLEM: You have your Graphic Settings set on Low.
SOLUTION: BEFORE the Demo Mech "breaks" through the wall, go to menu>options>display and change your Graphic Settings to High. Turns out that the setting is also linked to physics for some reason.
Note: I mean Graphic Settings, NOT resolution.

Demo Mech working on his football carry. He could be a good linebacker. Or quarterback. Or stepstool, whatever. I don't know football. Anyway, he should be able to break through these walls.

A less serious problem, but without High(and physics with it) enabled, your foe won't be able to break through these walls. That becomes a problem when you enrage him and taunt him to charge at you.
If you do taunt him, he might get caught on the walls and will endlessly run in place.

Two ways to interrupt this. Walk in front of him and take damage, or hit him with a Stun shot.
Or set your graphics to High and enable physics already. C'mon, do it already.
Chapter 4
Ok, this happens pretty early on in the chapter.
What happens is you're supposed to climb all over this building, but thine greatest enemy shows its face.

VERTICAL POLES.
Don't trust them. I don't.

There are two vertical poles on the corner of the building, and they can trap you on them by becoming one-way vertical poles. Seems Monkey doesn't land quite right on them, and won't jump to the next handhold.
The solution? Isn't it obvious? Hold [DOWN] *S on kb/m* *whatever it is on gamepads, which I would recommend using* when you wanna go down the pole...
Like in this situation. I'm going right to left, and will be sliding down the pole, so mid-flight I'll be holding [DOWN].

Whenever you wanna go up a pole(take a guess), you hold [UP](winner winner!!). Just to be crystal clear...
So yeah. I'm going left to right, so I'll hold [UP] while my muscly mass is soaring through the air.

*overused meme indicating easperation or utter bewilderment*
Chapter 5
I haven't found anything in this chapter, and was able to move on as normal. I did have High Graphics on, but I didn't have any problems as it is. Cool chapter.
Chapter 6-10
So far, so good. Seems New York is a hot spot.

I also encountered the ladder problem as GameWhenBored wrote. I managed to get past it by reducing resolution to 800x600 and turning vsync on. Might be worth a try, it worked for me.

I am adding this comment here just to help other players. I changed my native resolution to 1900 x 1080, and the game now loads and runs fine. I hope this helps.

I mean this guide isn't so much an actual bugfix, as a workaround for the crap the port pulls on you while playing. If you need help with launching the game, I'd check into the discussion forums for this game, you might be able to find what you're looking for there.

Is there a bug fix for 'the game will not launch"? All I get is a white screen with a Game stopped Working message.

I just stop the second windmill sail and it was impossible to restart

Just to point a bug: today I was replaying the chapter 3 and, after beat the turret near the end (where trip comes to a door and trigger the alarm), I stay wating she came to the door. Since it was taking more seconds than it should, I pressed LB (to see where she was) and to my surprise she was falling out of the map - and the only solution was "restart from last chekpoint".

I guess that she fall somewhere near the "mini bridget" that Monkey have to low before go to face the turret. So, I recommend that you always grab Trip when theres is a chance xD

All I can add is to make sure you're holding down BEFORE you land on the pole if you're traveling right to left. If you don't hold up or down before you land on the pole the game won't recognize the input in time to seat you properly on the pole.
